Football hooligan arrests hit record low

Postby Stuckey Mon Nov 19, 2012 12:26 am

The number of people arrested for football-related disorder fell to a record low last season, figures showed today.

A total of 3,089 English and Welsh fans were arrested at international and domestic games in 2010/11, down 302 from the previous season - the lowest level since records began in 1984/5.

There were no arrests at 70% of games and 92% of those whose football banning orders have expired since 2000 were assessed by police as no longer posing a risk of football disorder.

Crime Prevention Minister Lord Henley said: "Football policing is a real British success story. Where hooliganism was once described as 'the English disease', we now set an example for others to follow."

If the figures were bad I'm sure News Corp would be hopping on and making Football look bad. How about reporting good figures?

But that scheisse is starting to increase in Germany.

Is there a reason for that? I know Germany have a lot of standing terraces and drinking in seats. I hope that doesn't add to it otherwise the FFA will surely adopt it hurting clubs and alco's like me badly!

Right wing/neo-nazi infiltration into some of the Ultras groups.
Bovver in the lower divisions especially out east.
But there are a lot of level headed supporters out there.

Here is what happened this weekend.

Honigstein has a good Bundesliga blog on the Guardian every Tuesday I think.
In the "Sid Lowe" style.
Worth reading.

Sounds like people with other agendas trying to gain supporters thru football.

It's happening quite a lot, unfortunately. Italy has always had a few clubs where this has been an issue (Lazio being the best example) and it also happens in Ukraine and Croatia. Probably other countries too.
