Dark Side of the Beautiful Game

Postby Nash Wed Mar 07, 2012 8:59 pm

DEATH threats, gangster-style beatings, humiliation, racism, extortion and mental torture.

Those horrid traits are related to the notorious underworld and crime bosses who stain the beauty of human life.

But, sadly, this is the sickening tale of the state of some eastern European clubs after the world players' union FIFPro discovered players were treated like slaves.

A survey commissioned by FIFPro revealed corruption in eastern European football was untenable.

The web of football deceit has even hit home.

Adelaide United midfielder Spase Dilevski was willing to tell the story of his anguish in Romania where he feared for his wellbeing.
Romanian football was going to be the building block for Dilevski's move back into the bigger leagues of Europe.

But what happened for the next four years before he signed for Adelaide in 2011 was gut-wrenching.

Dilevski was bullied to the point of despair, but was forced to keep quiet.

"I saw a lot of stuff first hand," Dilevski said.

Yeah that video...wow!
It makes you feel bad even bagging out Watson or Bruce the way we do on here!
Great article from Val nice to see him go a bit deeper in his writing although I think a lot of it was supplied by the PFA.
I still would like to read more positive articles from him though. A lot of his articles about football outside of Adelaide are generally a negative story.
But I guess if we want to read about people patting themselves on the back we can go to the FFA website!
Time to Djbate!
