Cant see him. Eing a starting option in either divisions.

His lack of ball control will be more evident, but as you guys have indicated leckie as an imoact player in almost any league around would surely give tiring defenders something to worry about.

If his ball control can improve i think he could do very...very well in germany

MATHEW Leckie was an absentee from the eligible three Australian national teams in camp before the Socceroos arrive today in Adelaide.

The former Adelaide United forward has revealed he has made himself unavailable for the Young Socceroos' camp in the Netherlands while the Olyroos and Socceroos prepare for friendly clashes.

After passing a medical and signing a three-year contract with Bundesliga club Borussia Moenchengladbach, Leckie said he needed a break before reporting to pre-season club training on June 15.

"I told Young Socceroos coach Jan Versleijen I had picked up a niggling injury in Germany and I really want to make the right impression when I go back," he said.

Getting fit and learning German
For the last few days, Borussia’s players have been in Bad Wörishofen preparing for the new season. For Australian newcomer Mathew Leckie the training camp is a completely new experience.

For a while, Leckie was living at BORUSSIA PARK in the youth academy boarding block. For somebody who is thousands of miles from home in a totally new environment not the worst place to be. “I’ve got to know lots of people in the stadium and in the youth digs and was able to settle in and experience the club at close quarters,” says the Australian. The training camp is hard work for him, he adds, and very strenuous, “as after all, I’ve never taken part in pre-season training like this before. At home at my old club we didn’t have anything like it.”

He played 45 mins in both of Gladbach's first 2 friendlies, coming on as a sub for the 2nd half in their 2-1 loss to Greuther Fürth and then starting in the 3-1 win against FC Heidenheim.

Aberdeen went behind a minute into the second half when Youl Mawene lost out to Borussia's half time sub Matthew Leckie and the Australian striker beat Gonzalez with a well-placed finish.
Mike Hankle scored a spot kick in the 76th minute, given when captain Foster was adjudged to have pushed Leckie in the box.
Leckie got his second with an easy tap-in and made it five for Borussia with about 15 minutes left.

Great news for AU that player can move over to Europe and perform almost straight away. Same happened to Bruce. Pity his form didn't continue.
