Big Sam's(and now Rafa) Gone - Xmas Manager Sackings

Postby sevengoals Tue Dec 14, 2010 4:04 am

Big Sam has gone fishing!

Blackburn Rovers have announced the departure of their manager, Sam Allardyce, and his assistant, Neil McDonald, "as part of our wider plans and ambitions for the club".

The move came after their 2-1 defeat to one of Allardyce's former clubs, Bolton Wanderers, yesterday, and with the club 13th in the Premier League.

I'm sure there will be a few more.

Avram Grant anybody?

As soon as Houghton was sacked I thought West Ham would sack Grant and make a play for him.

Perhaps Blackburn have the same idea? Sacking Allardyce seems a strange move - I don't particularly rate him as a manager but he's done pretty well for Rovers without any money or any decent players.

The sacking of Allardyce was a shock.

I know this season has not been he's best season considering the closeness of the league and teams struggling to find some form. Maybe the new owners just want a fresh start with a new manager.

Anyone notice the irony of this happening after a loss at Bolton?

Here we go.
Nothing surprising.
Avram Grant appears to be on borrowed time after it emerged that West Ham United are giving serious consideration to replacing their Israeli manager with Sam Allardyce.

Grant said before the weekend that he did not envisage being sacked despite West Ham's precarious position at the foot of the table but the club's owners are alarmed at their predicament and beginning to run out of patience. It is unlikely that a managerial change will be made before Saturday's trip to Blackburn Rovers, with Grant understood to have a few more games to turn things around, although that understanding would almost certainly change if West Ham were to suffer a crushing defeat at Ewood Park.

See you Avram.(?)

No doubt Big Sam had been highly effective and successful with Bolton, but his teams are generally unwatchable. It contravenes the mantra of these two:

"Football wasn't meant to be run by two linesmen and air traffic control" - Tommy Docherty

Agree.

It will be a big shock if Big Sam takes over the Irons.
But, West Ham will want to stay up, therefore bugger the "football".

Ho, ho, ho!
You're sacked Rafa!

Rafael Benítez's unhappy six-month tenure at the European champions, Internazionale, ended tonight when the Spaniard's contract at San Siro was terminated, with the parting of the ways set to be formally confirmed in the next 24 hours.
more,

I tend to agree, Bolton are far more enjoyable to watch now than under Big Sam.
