scary thing about the names you just mentioned... no defenders
who are our star defenders coming through? Mullen? Milligan? Cornflakes? sorry if iv missed any obvious ones but nothing really comes to mind.
McGowanx2 Herd, Williams family, Devere, Oar, plus the bunch of kids playing as full backs in the A-League that could step up.

tbh an attacking setup that contains Troisi, Rukalphabet, Leckie, Burns and Amini amongst others looks nice.
There's also Aaron Mooy kicking around in scotland as an AM though not sure what he's like.
I reckon in 5 years time you could cut and paste hearts young backline into a roos squad...

Kaiserslautern 1-2 Borussia Monchengladbach

Leckie was brought on for Herrmann (right midfield) at the 38min
and was replaced by Wendt at the 82min.

No details yet.
(Wendt is a defender so it looks like a tactical switch)

I reckon that's his longest playing time in the league.

Pity it wasn't a pre-season match. Get in the coaches mind early on.

Personally I would have liked to see him stay and fight for the first team. But hopefully this assures him regular first team action for the season. Watch out Kruse!

Agree with all the above. Fighting for a spot in the starting 11 in the Bundesliga is one thing, but fighting for a spot in the starting 11 in the second division will not be good enough.

He would need to be a starter for this move to be positive. Another year on the sidelines would be bad for development.

In all I believe it is a positive move. Good luck to him however as all have said, he needs to make this work.

in his first game for FSV Frankfurt, he got a win. 10-0 setting up one and scoring one.

here is some footage on youtube. Leckie is Number 20.

Matthew Leckie got his FSV Frankfurt career off to a flying start with an assist and a goal in the 10-0 win over Spvgg 08 Bad Nauheim.

Leckie came on after the break and made an immediate impact with a delightful through ball that almost led to a goal.

Midway through the second half, he produced a fine piece of skill to control a cross, before delivering a clever back heel that was hammered home by Stefan Winkel.

The former Adelaide United forward got his own name on the score sheet in the 76th minute, when he waltzed past the opposition defence and drilled a tight angled shot into the back of the net.

Bundesliga 2 is up and running and Leckie came off the bench at the 58th against Hertha Berlin and managed to score by the 63rd!

He should be in Scotland.

Ruka didn't feature (injured?) and Frankfurt won 3-1. Leckie managed 8 successful tackles in his time on as well so it sounds like he was a busy lad!
