Infantino's Asia Faux Pas

Postby blahblah Wed Oct 23, 2019 8:21 am

Infantino's Asia trip isn't going particularly well.

First of all he attended the North Korea - South Korea match where no spectators or media were allowed whilst the North Koreans allegedly abused the South Koreans (which the refs had little idea about as they didn't speak Korean). Not a cheery match from all accounts and one that breaks most of FIFA's requirements regarding these matches.

Now he turned up late for an official reception from the Mongolian Football Federation who were celebrating their 60th anniversary. He blamed traffic however it was reported on social media that he actually attended a meeting with the previous head of the MFF, Buyannemekh, who was banned for 5 years by FIFA for corruption. The meeting occurred a mere two days after the ban was complete.

Needless to say, the Mongols are not amused.

After the Hakeem affair you'd think he'd learn to tread a little more carefully in Asia. Apparently not.
