Both J-League clubs managed by Aussies, Yokohama Marinos and Shimizu S-Pulse, have had stuttering starts to the season, being 14th and 17th in the 18 team league. Perhaps the oddest statistic is Kashima Antlers, currently mired at the bottom of the table after 7 games.
No such problems for Mitch Langerak, who is loving life in Japan with another clean sheet and Nagoya Grampus sitting 3rd on the table and with a game in hand (I believe their game with Oita Trinita was postponed due to heavy rain).
Meanwhile in J2, V-Varen Nagasaki sit 4 points clear on top of the table after seven rounds. This includes a nice home win over Kyoto Sanga on the weekend and a very satisfying away win to Avispa Fukuoka a few weeks ago.
