Huge away win by F.Marinos; 1-4. FC Tokyo had a 1-1 draw with Urawa Reds leaving Ange's men clear by 3.

The final result will be decided next week when F.Marinos host FC Tokyo with the latter needing to win by 4.

Expect an open game.

Whoa!Whoa!Whoa!

Let me get this right. :D

Yokohama only need a draw and FC.Tokyo needs to win by 4 clear goals.
Now that is how you finish a football league!

3-0 to the Marinos!
It must be going off in Yokohama!

Well done Ange!
Former Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou has completed one of the most significant achievements by an Australian coach, winning the J-League with Yokohama F.Marinos.

Amazing! I'm not sure if there is a world league rankings like there is nation rankings. But if there is I'd doubt an Australian coach has won a higher standing league. I wonder if there is potential for Ange to move up the ranks in the City group? I doubt Pep's job is in peril at the moment but the group own a minority share in Girona...

Fantastic effort from Ange. Europe may well be calling, though the ACL must be sorely tempting.

It would be remiss of us not to mention the Adelaide United connection in this. Congrats to Greg King!

J1 kicks off for 2020 next Friday. We have to wait until 10th of May for the grudge match of the season, Yokohama FC vs Yokohama F.Marinos. Most derbies have an edge however in this case it is the club formed by disgrunteled fans (FC) vs the club they left because of a merger (Flugels with Marinos, hence F.Marinos - the disgrunteled fans being ex-Flugels supporters).

Should be spicey.

That should be a very interesting derby, took me a while to get it but ... :D
Your post got my interest up and I had a quick look at the history of the two clubs.
I understand the Flügels' supporters frustration.

By the way "Flügel" is German for "wings".
Hang on a minute, could we call them the "Flying Sailors?
Also interesting to note that City Football Group owns 19.95% of the F.Marinos.

If it wasn't for Ange I know which team I would prefer to win that derby.

J League kicks off again this weekend. Round 2 after the first match-day back in February.

It has been decided to expand the league to 20 teams so there will be no relegation this year, just promotion. The same for J2.

J2 has already restarted with mighty V-Varen Nagasaki recording a win the rain against those pesky fellow Kyushu players from Kitakyushu. Next victims for the mighty oshidori are slovenly neighbours Avispa Fukuoka. What chance do they have? None I tell you, none!
