Indonesia is considering moving their upcoming game against Vietnam away from Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta (77,000 capacity) to Bali United's stadium (23,000) in a bid to avoid further crowd trouble.

Funny buggers are already being played between North and South Korea who are to meet on October 15. Pyongyang is the nominated stadium though the North Koreans have yet to confirm any details with the South. It could be fun as last time the sides met the venue was switched to China as the North Koreans would not allow the South Korean athem to be played.

All the games in this round went to form, with one exception.............Jordan only managed a draw at home to Kuwait

There were a couple of surprisingly high results, Kyrgyzstan defeating Myanmar 7-0 being one and the 14-0 belting Iran handed to Cambodia another. I am not sure what happened to Myanmar as they also lost to Mongolia last month. They have a very good striker playing in Thailand (who I believe was unavailable for this match) however they seem to be shipping goals.

A couple of interesting fixtures coming up. Group D has the potential for the most movement with Palestine v Saudi Arabia and Singapore v Uzbekistan featuring (Yemen with the bye). It is the group with the most inconsistency, however the White Wolves do seem to have regained their mojo after their shock opening loss to Palestine.

Pick of the bunch though is Thailand v UAE. Should be a cracker.

Looks like I made some good calls!

Palestine drew with Saudi and the Uzbeks managed an away win in Singapore sending them to the top of the group with 6 points with Saudi trailing on 5 closely followed by Palestine and Singapore for 4 apiece. The Uzbekistan-Saudi Arabia game on the 15th of November is looking an important one.

Thailand came up with the goods, defeating UAE 2-1 in Bangkok. This sends UAE to 3rd place after three games, one point adrift of both Thailand and Vietnam. Vietnam-UAE on the 15th will be another stern test for the Emiratis who may find themselves under some pressure.

Jordan v Nepal is still going on, with the Jordanian's only 1-0 up in the '78. Jordan doesn't appear to be the Jordan of old.

In other games the Azkals managed a 0-0 draw with China which they should be please about and South Korea finally managed to play in North Korea in the Kim Il-Sung stadium, with the North Koreans managing a credible 0-0 draw. No word as to whether the North Koreans allowed the South's anthem to be played this time.

And as I type Bahrain go 1-0 up over Iran in '66!

EDIT: '90 + 1.........still 1-0

EDIT(2): '90 + 6 ..... a lot of added time, still 1-0

EDIT (3): Whistle blown and we have upset of the round!

...and some wierd reports coming in from the North Korea - South Korea game. The photos of the game show completely empty stands. It appears no-one was allowed to go to the game. That damn national athem thing again?

Apparently in Pyongyang there were no spectators allowed, no media allowed, no live coverage, South Korean broadcasters were banned from the stadium and updates from South Korean officials at the ground had to be sent via fax. The beauty of all of this was Infantino attended the match

Ah, North Korea, you rarely dissappoint. :D

It is half-way through the second round and there were some interesting results, pick of the bunch being:

Iraq 2- 1 Iran - the Iraqi's top the group with 10 points with Bahrain second on 8 and Iran third on 6. Iran have 3 home games in the next 4 however losses to both Iraq and Bahrain has put them under a lot of pressure as only the top of the group is guaranteed progression.

Vietnam 1 - 0 UAE - UAE have struggled in what is a very tight group though were given a helping hand by Malaysia who defeated Thailand. Vietnam head the group with 10 points whilst Thailand sit second on 7 with UAE and Malaysia both on 6. Indonesia prop up the bottom. UAE have 3 of the next 4 at home however cannot afford any slip-ups, something that either of Vietnam or Thailand may well deliver.

Lebanon 0 - 0 South Korea - The Lebanese had a fantastic result, holding the Taegeuk Warriors to a draw. South Korea still lead the group with 8 points trailed by Lebanon and North Korea on 7 with Turkmenistan on 6. Whipping boys Sri Lanka sitting at the bottom.

3 important games in the contexts of their groups being played tonight.

Group A -Syria v Philippines: China are 5 points behind Syria and level with Philippines. If Syria win this then the chances of China automatically making it to the next stage are only mathematical. If Philippines win then China are in for a fight just to make second.

Group C -Iraq v Bahrain: Iran are 4 points behind Iraq and 2 points behind Bahrain. An Iraqi win leaves them with an uphill task tot op the group despite having three home games coming up.

Group G: Vietnam v Thailand: A very evenly matched group that sees UAE 4 points behind Vietnam and 1 behind Thailand. UAE will be hoping Vietnam don't get away from them as the eveness of this group may result in second place not being good enough to progress.

Of the key match-ups:

Syria 1- Philippines 0: It was a great effort from the Azkals however Syria have now run away with the group and everyone else is playing for second. The China-Philippines game on the 4th of June could well be the decider for second.

Iraq 0 - Bahrain 0: The best possible result for Iran and they will be looking forward to their home matches. There is still work to do however the chance of topping the group has improved greatly.

Vietnam 0 - Thailand 0: What UAE were looking for, however Malaysia also had a good hit-out with a 2-0 win over Indonesia pushing them up to second and leaving UAE 4th with a game in hand. Anything could happen in this group.

On a side note Kuwait travelled to Nepal and came away with a 0-1 win. That puts them second in our group, ahead of Jordan on goal difference.

I'm interested to see how the Nepalese go at home. Odd that they play everyone away, then everyone home. I think this first home result shows its not going to be an easy place to travel to.

Kathmandu is on average 1,400m above sea level so the altitude, particularly the way the ball moves, plays a role. At least now they are on an artificial pitch as in the past they played on a cow paddock that was a real leveller.
