AFC Women's Champions League

It looks like something that is on the cards, though in what format is yet to be determined. Moya Dodd seems to be in the thick of it.

It would be great if it comes to fruition, though hopefully is something substantive and just a small, tight tournament. Also the East-West divide will have to come together earlier, or be junked, given the ridiculously heavy weighting towards the East.

It would be interesting to see club and league rankings coupled together over the two genders.
I think that would be a smart way of getting all countries on board as far as taking the women's game seriously.

Part of the rationale for the competition is to encourage investment in the women's game, particularly from second tier clubs and competitions. Whilst some countries have reasonable foundations and growth in the women's game, others are badly lagging. This competition should act as an incentive to bridge some of those gaps, though clearly it is a concept that is going to appeal more in the East than the West.
