Mabil to come on and provide the assist for the equaliser. Gombau to run to the celebration and pick him up like a baby... you heard it here first

Time to pay more attention to Group B.

At the moment Syria sit 3rd on 12 points, however face a trip to Iran on the final day.
The Uzbeks are 4th on goal difference and host South Korea, who are at 14 points on the final day.

Basically anything goes however I'd be very surprised to see Syria pull off an upset. The question is whether the Uzbeks, who had a disappointing loss away to China, can pull off an upset against South Korea. It is entirely possible and something I don't want to consider as if we have to face a 4th round opponent I'd much prefer the White Wolves over the Taeguk Warriors.

Aren't Argentina 5th - the team we play if we get through the third place qualifier?

Let's hope it doesn't come to that...

Yes they are 5th on goal difference behind Chile. However teams from 2nd to 8th are only seperated by 5 points with three more matches to go. Any on them could finish 5th. Brazil are runaway leaders and have qualified and Boliva and Venezuela have been eliminated.

The next matches are on the 5th of September and are
Boliva - Chile - Chile should win
Colombia - Brazil
Ecuador- Peru - both need a win to be a realistic chance of getting to fifth
Argentina - Venezuela - Argentina should win
Paraguay - Uruguay - Paraguay need to win but they just beat Chile in Chile 3-0 so it is possible

Argentina could be second after this match and if results go the right way then there could be 6 teams within a 2 point point range from 2nd to 7th.

Extremely hard to predict, even Venezuela who are clear last have got upset results at home, drawing with Argentina, Peru and Colombia.

AFC drew CONCACAF for this qualifying so it's between US, Panama or Honduras. A US playoff would be pretty huge!

US lost at home to Costa Rica 0-2, so it remains a real possibility.

Interesting questions for NZ though. After their 6-1 hammering at home against Solomons they are looking very much like the team to facing a South American opponent.

If we faced USA the cynic in my would cast a keen eye on the refereeing. It's clearly in FIFA's favour that the US make the WC.
