Re: Australia OUT!
I hope this might just be the kick in the arse the FFA needs. They are certainly dragging their feet on the 3+1 player ruling. Hopefully it sees some more iron clad plans for promotion and relegation. Those are two key issues for the AFC.
But the elephant in the room is Wellington Phoenix.

Interesting.Rumours circulating on twitter that there is a movement to vote Australia out of the AFC.
It would weaken the Asian Federation but I guess Australia is an easy target being last inducted?
Is it the Japanese or Koreans or the minnow nations who are more vocal? I'd suspect the latter.

Re: Australia OUT!
Its not clear who's calling for it but I would expect it would be the countries that have now missed out on WC spots since Australia joined.Interesting.Rumours circulating on twitter that there is a movement to vote Australia out of the AFC.

I always said the day the New Zealand beat Bahrain to make the WC with a squad largely made from Wellington players would come back to bite us!

Re: Australia OUT!
How does the vote work? I know FIFA are corrupt as hell but surely there would need to be grounds for "dismissal"?
Could be all talk to disrupt the final preparations.

I have no idea how it would work but I imagine it would be put up for a vote. Then obviously all the hallway deals are struck. How does the vote work? I know FIFA are corrupt as hell but surely there would need to be grounds for "dismissal"?

Re: Australia OUT!
It's the West Asians that are the most vocal. Kuwait for example have always been against us joining.Interesting.Rumours circulating on twitter that there is a movement to vote Australia out of the AFC.

It's nothing new. I do wonder how what "gaining momentum" means. Could it be that the vocal minority sound a bit louder as they are on our shores? Regardless I agree that we should do our best to contribute, particularly to our local neighbours.

Re: Australia OUT!
It cannot be that easy to just kick out a country from a confederation.
What if oceania does not choose to take us back?
I imagine every confederation of fifa would need to approve when a country changes confederations.
Its possibly becoming an issue now due to us being in the asian cup final again , won the acl ( rather embarrassingly ) and put on an amazing asian cup with fantastic crowds

As I said I imagine it would be voted on if it got that far then I guess Fifa would have to come in and sort it out.It cannot be that easy to just kick out a country from a confederation.

All that is obviously a far way off and hopefully this is just the wake up call FFA need to stop putting off the AFC's requirements.

Re: Australia OUT!
Where are these rumours circulating?
Are the rumours on social media or has there been a serious statement made by one of the Confederations board members?
After this successfully staged Asian Cup I can't imagine anyone in the upper echelons of the Asian Confederation wanting Australia out.
The "sour grapes" have already started and the final has not even been played.

It's all just rumours on social media. I think it's sour grapes from things like us takings WC positions away from other countries and other loser talk of that nature.Where are these rumours circulating?

Apparently not just sour grapes:
http://www.news.com.au/sport/football/a ... 7201730991According to reports in Fairfax media, the Asian football boss told the Dubai-based newspaper Al-Ittihad that “there are indications that prove that such desire exists among the confederations of West Asia to evict Australia”.
