Some interesting results CCM from what I saw of the highlights created a lot of decent chances but were unlucky not to claim any of them and Montgomery missed IMO was a poorly taken penalty in the 88th minute to win. I think CCM of last couple of campaigns would have dropped their heads and conceeded in disappointing fashion so credit to them for not doing so.
Bunyodkor winning in Japan is big, Jeonbuk only getting a draw in Thailand is great for Muangthong. Buriram drawing in Japan and Evergrande pumping Urawa is a telling result too. Looks like a lousy start to the ACL for Japan!

I watched the Vegalta Sendai - Buriram match and quite enjoyed it. Of particular enjoyment was the Sendai crowd who were belting out the Japanese version of Twisted Sister's "We're not gonna take it".

Buriram did a sterling job playing the football they did in the freezing conditions (snow piled up around the ground) though were a smidgen lucky to pull off the draw.

REY 1-1 CCM at the 36" mark.

Hoping CCM at least get out of the group stage. Need some Aussie representation if we're going to get our ACL spots back.

Dunno if anyone is watching this but nearly EVERY Kashiwa supporter has a yellow jersey.

It really is a sight.

Not just a yellow top but the official yellow kit.

Wish the A-League had this support!

CCM 3-1 down with 3 mins plus change to go. And they've just won a pen and missed it!!

Man the ACL is so frustrating - the opposition go down like a sack of potatoes nearly every challenge it seems.

CCM have majority possession but Kashiwa just hold their position until CCM give it away and then they are deadly on the counter.

Final result REY 3-1 CCM.

Tbh this really is making it difficult for CCM's domestic campaign - welcome to AU's world circa 2008 :)

EL JAISH (QAT)3-1 AL JAZIRA (UAE)
AL SHABAB (KSA)1-0 TRACTORSAZI TABRIZ (IRN)

AL SHABAB AL ARABI (UAE)1-0 AL ETTIFAQ (KSA)
LEKHWIYA (QAT)3-1 PAKHTAKOR (UZB)

AL NASR (UAE)2-4 AL GHARAFA (QAT)
FOOLAD MOBARAKEH SEPAHAN (IRN)2-4 AL AHLI (KSA)

AL AIN (UAE)2-1 AL RAYYAN (QAT)
AL HILAL (KSA)1-2 ESTEGHLAL (IRN)

FC SEOUL (KOR)2-1 VEGALTA SENDAI (JPN)
JIANGSU SAINTY (CHN)2-0 BURIRAM UNITED (THA)

URAWA RED DIAMONDS (JPN)1-3 JEONBUK HYUNDAI MOTORS (KOR)
GUANGZHOU EVERGRANDE (CHN)4-0 MUANGTHONG UNITED (THA)

SANFRECCE HIROSHIMA (JPN)0-1 POHANG STEELERS (KOR)
BUNYODKOR (UZB)0-0 BEIJING GUOAN (CHN)

CENTRAL COAST MARINERS (AUS)2-1 GUIZHOU RENHE (CHN)
SUWON BLUEWINGS (KOR)2-6 KASHIWA REYSOL (JPN)

Great to see CCM get a win. Doesn't exactly fill me with confidence that Guizhou hadn't scored before this game and the goal they got was an own goal.
That win takes them to second with a trip to China coming up. A win in China will make progressing far more likely.

I managed to see a bit of Uruwa getting owned by Jeonbuk which has more of less thrown them out of the comp.

Also saw the Guangzhou game which had a scoreline that didn't reflect the match (though the acting from the Muangthong goalkeeper meant that I was suffering bouts of schadenfreude everytime he was beaten; bloody muppet).

Huge result for Kashiwa though I heard Suwon missed a few penalties at the end.

Kashiwa Reysol 0 - 0 Suwon Bluewings
Guizhou Renhe 2 - 1 Central Coast Mariners
Buriram United 2 - 0 Jiangsu Sainty
Al Gharafa 3 - 1 Al Nasr
Tractor Sazi 0 - 1 Al Shabab
Beijing Guoan 0 - 1 Bunyodkor
Vegalta Sendai 1 - 0 Seoul
Al Jazira 1 - 1 El Jaish
Pohang Steelers 1 - 1 Sanfrecce
Al Ahli 4 - 1 Sepahan
Disappointing result for CCM letting two goals slip at the death those points lost will cost them dearly, they are by no way out of it and have shown they are up for it but it will have to be a very polished performance going forward and the distraction of HAL finals won't help. If they weren't play the Tards I'd hope they lose as to give them time to focus on the ACL. Now they must either beat Suwon in Korea or Kashiwa who are flying till this match day at home.
Great to see Buriram being competitive and a win in China for Bunyodkor will surely see them through with Pohang dropping points at home.

A great result from CCM in the pouring rain in Korea only two days after the GF. An AUFC type effort that one and a result that maybe gives me some hope for the Gosford outfit.

0-1 against Suwon for the record.

Great news for CCM. Now I think anything but a loss at home to Kashiwa will see them through.
Looking likely that their opponents in the second round will be Evergrande!
I've been waiting for a HAL club to come up against them! I hope Arnie has his bus licence valid! Backs to the wall stuff I would expect!

Reysol go 1-0 up after 60mins with their first decent chance of the second half. Luckily for CCM Suwon went 2-1 up v Guizhou Renhe so CCM are still going thru ATM.

FT CCM go down 3-0. But make it thru to the next round after Guizhou Renhe and Suwon drew 2-2. That means CCM play Marcelo Lippi's Guangzhou Evergrande next round in a home and away affair. Great to see the great man grace the shores of Oz!
