The only positive story about Aust football in a newspaper

Postby Stuckey Fri Aug 10, 2012 8:51 pm

And its not even written in Australia!
Shegufa Hassani arrived in Australia seven years ago from Pakistan, where she was a refugee for two years after fleeing the war in neighboring Afghanistan.

Now Shegufa is a confident 16-year-old girl and speaks fluent English complete with a strong Australian accent.

There are so many of these stories, of people who have gone thru hard ship only to come to Australia and find the most enjoyable way to connect with their new community if thru football. Maybe if the media stopped laying the boot in and the FFA stopped spending all their time patting themselves on the back these story could be heard?
There are so many areas of community, government and business where football could be a serious aid especially when it comes to Asia, yet the main two codes keep us locked in a world of ingnorance and as a result we're still considered laughable by the countries we so dearly need to engage.
Time to Djbate!

Indeed it is a good story and there are plenty that are similar. I agree that it is an aspect that needs some polishing though I believe the clubs are doing a bit of work in this area.
