A good set of results for us with Japan easily accounting for Oman 3-0 in Saitama and Jordan being held to a 1-1 draw with Iraq.

I am expecting Japan to wipe the floor with Jordan tonight and make an emphatic statement as to their intentions for this group.

A win tonight for us against Oman will give Jordan and Iraq the jitters. We need the three points as I am not sure how accommodating Japan is likely to be next week.

Walter White in CB, i like it.

i'm not sure if i really want to comment just yet on the game... i watched a dodgy foreign feed so didn't get all the information - but i think it's fair enough to say that i am disappointed.

Archie Thompson... What the shit.

6-0 in the end.

Japan look very, very sharp. Okazaki's crosses and through balls were superb. McKay is going to have one hell of a challenge

If we cant perform against japan then imo we dont deserve to in the wc, im not talking about winning or losing , but putting in in good performance against a quality opponent at home

If the 2012 version of Archie Thompson is the best we have going forward in the national set-up...we must be in trouble.

If thompson is to be used as an impact player purely for speed late in the game then to me ruka or leckie are much better options

I totally agree! I don't want us to just make up the numbers in Brazil. I'm not blowing 20k to go to Brazil to see us do that!

Japan have beaten Iraq 1-0. Saw the first half and it looked like Iraq we're really in that one. Should have taken the lead early and made attacking difficult for Japan but in the end you can't keep a side of that quality down all game.
Socceroos really have to make tonight count if they are to stay in touch.

We need a win tomorrow and also Oman either getting on top of, or drawing with, Jordan would be nice.

Jordan hosted Uzbekistan on Saturday night for the 5th place play-off and the game was shown live here in the Philippines. Uzbekistan quite frankly dominated and Jordan were lucky to leave with a 1-1 draw. Jordan don't travel well and with the form the White Wolves are in I can't see anything but an Uzbek triumph in Tashkent on Wednesday night.

I'm happy about that as the Uzzies seem to be putting a lot of effort into youth development and I'm always happy to see sides reap the rewards of that.
