ACL Group Stage - Day 6

The group stage is starting with the most exciting group, H, where all 4 teams have the chance to go through. Buriram are taking on Guangzhou and given their performances of late I believe will roll the Chinese. That said it is wet here in SE Asia the moment where a dry, hot pitch would have better suited the Thai's.

Kashiwa need to defeat Jeonbuk at home to go through. A draw won't be enough.

My tip, Buriram to defeat Guangzhou and Kashiwa to roll Jeonbuk. Buriram to miss out due to the head to head record with Jeonbuk.

Yes thats usually how is going in football. The big clubs sneak thru at the expense of the smaller underdog.
But Evergrande have suspended Conca. I wonder if that will be an issue? Fair enough too! How dare a player bring his new born son on the pitch! ;)

Bad refereeing followed by even worse defending results in Nagoya going 1-0 up

Nagoya play the offside trap perfectly and with a cool as a cucumber chip over the keeper go 2-0 up. CCM all but gone.

HT Nagoya 2-0 and completely in control. I'm kind of glad. Personally I just don't feel comfortable with AU facing CCM. I also don't feel comfortable with another Aussie side succeeding in the ACL!

So Nagoya win 3-0 CCM are out. CCM completely out played had a few chances but weren't able to take them. Now we wait on Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma v Tianjin Teda game to see who we possibly line up against. Sasa starting for Seongnam.

Seongnam go 2-0 up looks like at this stage we're playing Nagoya. (As long as we take top spot!)

So Seongnam win 3-0 and sow up top spot. Evergrande win a last minute penalty Conca coverts so win 2-1 and send Evergrande thru! Drama! Based on head to head Evergrande now top the group! Gee whiz some clubs get all the breaks! Haven't seen the penalty though.

Watched the Kashiwa-Jeonbuk game, decent game from the Japanese. Jeonbuk hit the post on a penalty and Kashiwa managed a couple of posters on their own. In the end a fair result and the boys from the dormitory town go to the next round.

Lol! Guess who was the defender for Buriram who brought down Cleo to earn Evergrande the penalty?
