Maradona

Postby blahblah Sat Jan 14, 2012 12:25 pm

After having one of UAE's biggest clubs floundering mid-table and knocked out of this season's President's Cup, Diego has declared his intention to sign for another year at Al Wasl.

Amazing what 3.5 million and access to a couple of private jets can do for the enthusiasm :D

Its a pity. It would be great for the ACL if he was involved in it.

Richard Porta, the Australian born Uruguayan, had bit of a go at Maradona after his departure from Al Wasl.
"There was a lot of work done on the physical side, and on the pitch hardly anything. He relied on what us foreigners could already do," the ex-River Plate and Belenenses man revealed
It sounds a bit like his coaching at the World Cup

Where has Porta gone? Wasn't he linked with AU a while back?

I assume he is heading back to Uruguay, to Naçionale (?), where he was before

And now it seems he wants the Iraq job. Nothing confirmed as yet (agent talk) however if so then it is great news for our World Cup Qualification hopes.

Whats with the Iraq job? They always seem to attract high profile coaches? Where does the money come from?
I wish for his sake he would just go back to Argentina and settle down with a decent club for 5 seasons and learn to actually coach. Why he got the NT job as his first gig was in a word idiotic!
