I thought the Shanghai deal had fallen through.

Shocking pollution there at the moment.

$300,000 per week! We'll probably be on more then he was at Chelsea! Huge power shift in world football happening! I'm not sure if I'd rather the HAL go this way and try a get big name players or try the Dutch league method and be the ones creating that talent. Its a noble way of running a club but it hasn't won them much in way of European trophies in the last 20 years! Is the national's team success enough?
Maybe we could try a little from both columns?

Imagine coming up against these guys in the ACL. Drogba would single handedly rape the shit out of us.

Fark me, imagine Anelka and Drogba as a striking partnership in a league like China...

People say the best players will always be in europe, but imo they will also be where the fans and money are.

The euro is on a knifes edge, the good old PIGS have their hand out to their big brothers across country borders for hand outs... Over to the US, their answer to fix their massive deficit is is to slightly cut back spending ( yet still spend more then they recieve) while also borrowing a shitload more ontop of what they owe..

Over to asia.....2 emerging super powers in india and china opening their doors up to foreign trade, all while taking their neighbours in the region ( including us ) along for the ride...... Not to mention the billions of people being pulled out of poverty and landing as middle class citizens with a taste of overseas culture and the round ball game...

Whats the point you say?

How much longer will europe be ... Europe ?? Money talks
Ppl who slap the label of truth on the 1st thing they hear, do it out of ignorance, convenience or cant be bothered picking through a thin layer of falsehood to find the real truth, or possibly even another lie

Absolutely! Sure the big clubs Barca, Man U, Real will always be big and probably have a larger following in Asia then any Asian club but as these wages continue to rise we will start to see players in their prime not just ones after one more decent pay cheque moving. The same goes for Russia and South America. I can see a lot of players like Neymar and the like deciding not to go to Europe at all due to pay in their home land being compareable and the standard ever increasing.
I think this shift will hurt lower clubs in bigger leagues most. They don't have to money to get imports over to their country and their league is dropping in standard so that isn't an attractive option either.
Something massive will have to happen to stop all these clubs from completely failing. The only option i see is that they become like the Netherlands and Belgium and start producing talent and selling it off regularly as to make a profit in the transfer market. Something I would love to see the AUFC if not the entire HAL do.
Personally I can see a European Super League starting in the not too distant future and clubs like Barca and Man U will be able to play weekend matches and then the best club may play off in a larger CWC much like the Champions league is now.

It seems Drogba is playing hard to get and Shanghai are getting a little sick of it
http://www.goal.com/en-sg/news/3868/mai ... ns-are-at-

Fabio Rochemback just rolled into China to play for Dalian Aerbin.

Some big names heading over there, it's just a pity their grassroots football doesn't get the same attention as the big names will get people through the gates but less so kids into the parks.

I hear they are investing in youth development but I hardly see that solving any problems they have. From what my mate in China has said the whole league is a bit of a joke with the match fixing that's rife in the league.
I'm surprised they aren't taking a leaf out of Japan's book and working on development more. I would think success for the national team would be fairly important to such a proud nation.

There was a really interesting article in The Economist about this. They were saying that the corruption was so rampant that it was putting parents off letting their children play the game as they didn't want their little emperors to be tainted by such things. I can understand that to an extent.
