Anyone who wants to tell you there is no quality in the asian cup m show them bahrain vs iran.

Particularly irans attacking players!

Great game so far!

How much are these guys on? I assume most are in the iranian, qatar or uae leagues and probably on good money, but i hope aleague clubs are atleast doing their homework.

There are a few players for iran who are easily marquee quality in the aleague.
I agree. Hopefully this will be a good thing for HAL clubs to look at the untapped resource that is Asian players.

I think the big issue (apart from money) with the west Asian players is that we're a long way away and some federations won't pick them for their national teams as a result.

It pisses me off though when I read people dismissing the quality of the west Asian teams. Outside of korea and japan (and to a lesser extent us and China) the quality drops off much more rapidly in the East. You can see that in how few made it to the cup finals.

There is actually a few based in europe.

One of them played many years in la liga , with others having premier league, championship , eredivisie and swedish experience.

So I've done the predictor.

Assuming Japan will top their group, we need to top ours to avoid playing them until final.

Just left batemans bay, heading to Sydney. Saw the iran game at a local pub and have to agree some of the movement was great. Weather looks a lot better as we head north, hope it holds out for tomorrow.

Half time and the Socceroos are leading 3-0.

Some good football and the team looks determined.

3 nil socceroos

To be fair oman have been terrible, they are much better then this.

It seems even carussca is i,pressed by luongo judging by his twitter account.

Just realised we have leckie kruse and cahill upfront. All 3 were either not good enough for local rep teams or almost drifted away from the game as a youth.

Our captain jedinak Was a reluctant injury replacement fir ccm in the early years and franjic was a chippy playing football part time.

My point? Talent identification is terrible in this country!

Everyone talks about amini and rogic as future 10s, no one ever talks about Luongo and now look at him

Luongo and ikonomidis in the midfield next asian cup among many others is going to be very exciting

Will reserve judgement until after the South Korea game but I can't remember the last time the Socceroos looked so good on the ball even against the minor teams.

With group positions being determined by head-to-head results ahead of goal difference should teams finish on the same points.

I was not aware of this. Means China will definitely top Group B.

I can't really decide who I'd like us to line up against.
We played the Saudis not long ago so maybe them.
