Another victim has been claimed, this time Bob Houghton who has left the India job. It is a pity as he has done much with the team, though from reports he was the one who decided to go. The AIFF as per usual are looking at the national team instead of thinking about national development. In reality they need more of a technical director type of coach, a role which Bob was suited.

Unfortunately they want to play like Spain, without having to develop the players. There is no news as yet as to who is in the line for this, one of the most enigmatic jobs in the Asian coaching circus.

If you're to believe any of the previous talk (partly from myself a few months ago, I must admit), AIFF has been looking to send Bob packing for some time now.

Expect the cliches to come out. "We feel we've come as far as we can with Mr. Houghton."

You're right, though. It's hard to think of others who'll be both suitable for the job and willing to sign himself to the task.
