Bin Hammam seems quite the powermonger...

Still, it would probably be a good thing for Asia as a confederation if he gets the top job. And I dare say world football would be better off without Blatter.

A very interesting question indeed. Perhaps we got it wrong and Bin Hammam is angling for Blatter's seat and is positioning a Korean/Chinese/Japanese to take his place, hence the Jordanian Prince's move. He couldn't leave with Dr Chung Mong-Joon as Vice President because he would move in as President of the AFC, leaving Bin Hammam with a hostile home confederation (though Chung Mong-Joon was probably Blatter's biggest threat at the time).

I suspect Bin Hammam would have rather enjoyed himself in the princely state of Florence.
