An honorable loss which is probably a good result these days. Thought our defence was pretty average although more desperate this week. Mauk seemed slow and made a few pretty loose passes, but in general, making too many mistakes at this level.
Definitely one of the better performances I’ve seen this season. But it could have been that the Nix were stuck in second gear until that well taken penalty woke them up.
If United could keep that team together for a couple of years we may become a highly competitive team once again. But that’s highly unlikely with the club’s present policy.
Saturday’s game against Victory could be very spicey. I predict a red for Mauk.
Yeah the general application wasn't bad. Fought to the end which to me shows there's still team spirit there. We're still just woeful at defending especially in transition. We created a bit more than recent away weeks but we're struggling there too. These things have to be on the coaching staff unfortunately.
Surely Tunnicliffe has to be back in the side now, for his experience?
Time for him to show us we've judged him too quickly and too harshly!
Just give him the simple job of staying central and shielding the two centre backs (so MV can't just play through us), and when he has the ball at his feet making a simple pass to a player (one of our players!) who isn't under immediate pressure so that we have some sort of opportunity of keeping possession.

Agreed.
I mean it's not like he's been terrible. He just seems to be in the team whenever we cop a hiding and doesn't show any sign of looking a cut above what's on the park.
If he can't get in this team and cement a spot then surely it will be a case of cutting ties at the end of the season ?

I think Tunners is ok as a squaddie, and if we got him from the NPL that would be ok, but he’s our international signing

He’s got to get mutual at the end of the season regardless. We have a surplus of midfielders and he isn’t an upgrade on the local options we have. In addition getting him off the books frees up some wages and a visa spot.

It's a two year deal. We can't just rip up his contract, unless we're up for paying it out or we can find him a better offer.
