Hiroshi Ibusuki

Deserves his own thread after his hatty against SFC in our 4-3 win. Official legend status!

Stumbled across this article written in the leadup to the game (didn't know Ch9 were capable of quality journalism!):

Seems like a lovely fellow. He is also a very good striker if the team plays to his strengths. He is a very good hold up and distribute player too.

He managed to forge a decent career in Spain, which must have been pretty tough coming from Japan.
Obviously a real pro, who comes across as a top bloke and an excellent team mate.
He only needs another handful of games with AU to make this his longest stay at any club in his career.
Hopefully he's still sticking them away for a few years to come, and one day calling Adelaide home and United "my club", just like Isa.

I was a bit concerned about Carl's talk about a investing in a new striker, especially given we've comfortably outscored everyone in the competition and have Hiroshi who can also mentor the young lads.

We've lost Goody and losing Nestory, so there is that to consider. Even still, I'd say the other end of the pitch should be the focus.

I'd be a much happier supporter knowing Hiroshi secured a new deal.

After a very disappointing 2023, I wanted him gone. But in 2024, he has been brilliant and the club would be mad not to give him a new deal.

Our attack even without Goodwin has scored plenty of goals but our defence is still extremely poor. Some new CB’s will be vital.

Hiroshi will be a club legend. He's everything you want from a Reds player. Polite, good on the ball, hard-working, supportive of team-mates - and he scores goals. It's be a disaster to lose him. He and Clough have proven to be excellent signings after rough starts.

No question that the real investment has to be in CBs that are higher quality - and faster - than what we have.

We downgraded in the GK section when Gauchi left too.

I'll add to the wish list a decent DM, 2 if Barnett is not fit. I wasn't the hugest fan of Juande but he was effective. Tunnicliffe has been terrible IMO.

Barnett has immense potential but....injuries! I hope we get to see the best of him next year.
Tunnicliffe has been a disaster. He's barely State League standard.
Delianov will improve and is a decent A-League keeper. We were spoilt with Joe.

It's only to be expected.

Meanwhile, it's a bloody disgrace that AU haven't signed him already. Oh that's right, he's not a wunderkind they can sell for a motza.
