Bugger.
Late. Last man. Red.
Can’t blame the ref for that.
But we were so open to the fast counter.
Need someone quick to stay back.

Excellent team performance.
Irankunda back to his best. You could see how he loved that assist. He just needs to learn to be ok with the that you can’t score with every attack and that not every pass where he wants a return ball will come to him.

I thought that we definitely deserved the win tonight. 18 corners, 28 shots.
We can be proud of the boys coming back from behind twice against the league leaders.

Great second half. On another night it could have been 4 or 5-2.

How Wellington are top is beyond me.

Unfortunately we are really in a position where we need to start picking up 3 points if we are to make finals. Big glut of teams in the middle as always.

Short turnaround so let's hope Monday is fruitful.

Deserved more but it wasn't to be unfortunately.
Wellington have to be the most 1 dimensional team I've seen at Coopers. They had no intention to keep the ball at all and just wanted to counterattack. They may be top at the moment but I can see them either being figured out tactically (we played into their hands a lot) or an injury to Barbarouses will make that one tactic a lot harder to execute.

Would of been a deserved win but unfortunately two very soft and poor defensive lapses cost that. Our CBs bar Popovic just seem all over the shop.

Thought Hiro, Clough and Nestor were all great though and even with 10 we outplayed them. Thought Delianov was pretty shaky at times, hopefully just some rust due to not playing in ages.

Good entertaining game in a good atmosphere/crowd.

What did we think of the formation used? For me it was kind of a lopsided 442 or 4222 - Kitto clearly tasked with providing all the width on the left with Clough tucking in more centrally in attack, and Nestory an out and out winger on the right hand side...

------------------------------Deli----------------------
Bovalina-------Popovic---Ansell---------------
--------------------------------------------------Kitto
----------------Isaias-----Tunnicliffe-------------
Irankunda----------------------Clough----------
-------------------Ibusuki-----Jovanovic--------

I like this approach, Ibusuki clearly thrived being less isolated, the CM is strong with 2 older/experienced heads there. Bovalina and Nestory both worked their guts out as did Kitto on the left.

Clough's natural position is buzzing around the box so getting stuck out wide is not the best use of his abilities. Having Kitto as effectively a wingback is great because he's an attacking threat, but also means that you have to accept he'll be caught too high sometimes.
