Re: Macarthur FC v Adelaide United Match Day Jamboree!!!©
Were cruising at 3-2 after a much better second half.
Sending that many forward for a corner in the 82nd minute was just crazy. Leading 3-2 away from home you've gotta leave at least 2 men back.
I get Carl is trying the "Ange" approach of we always attack etc etc but game management is just as an important skill to learn for these kids.
1 or 3 points dropped depending on how you want to look at it.
Very disappointing.

I’m really impressed with how AU have improved their defensive structure since last season. Well done to all involved.
Bovalina did well and nice goal. Jovanovic nice and much more mobile then hiro.
But other than that not much to be enthusiastic about that.
Sorry for my late reply on the forum, sometimes life gets in the way of trying to watch and also type on a forum like this. I’ll try harder next game.

Absolutely crazy. I don’t think it was Carl’s instruction to be that open at the back. I think the players had a rush of blood. Two players commit to a tackle they don’t win. Alll they had to do was back off and it’s a 4 v 3 instead of 3 v 1.Were cruising at 3-2 after a much better second half.

How about the defence were wide open all game with inadequate midfield cover. Isaias misplaced passes so bad he was dragged and both Yull and Tunnicliffe overcommitted regularly.I’m really impressed with how AU have improved their defensive structure since last season. Well done to all involved.

On the positive side, you’re right we can certainly score good goals.

Basic, schoolkid issues. Too many heroes and not enough foot soldiers.
One at the back at 3-2 up? Well....that says something about leadership on the field. The captain and the person supposed to be marshalling the defence should both be docked match pay. Ludicrous.
Nestor was playing for himself - again. Toure came on and spent the whole time trying to show how clever he is. And he is - but not that clever. Hiro looks lost. And, perhaps worst of all, there seems to be bad blood between attacking players, who are seeing passes they should make and deciding not to.
Time for a few home truths in the dressing room I think. Not just pointless fury from Carl, but genuine authority and calling players back to what they are employed to do.
Defensive midfield. Defensive midfield. If you don't have one, then you don't win games.

9 players up for the corner in the 88th minute while you are leading 2-3 away from home.
9 players including the keeper in the box when they score that 3rd goal on the counter from said corner.
What a mess.

If ever there was a corner when a really really attacking team says to its centre backs …. “Nah, just stay back this time.” …. this scenario is it.9 players up for the corner in the 88th minute while you are leading 2-3 away from home.

A disappointed Carl talks about the match.

I missed the second half and I’m glad I did. It’s completely unacceptable being 3-2 up and losing 4-3.
I saw the highlights for the goals and it’s staggering that we had 9 men up for a corner late when we are leading by one goal. Where is the on-field leadership?
For next season, we really need to use 2 visa spots on central defenders and a third on a DM. This side is so good in attack but the defence is weak and is getting very little protection from the midfield. In the short term, getting Jay Barnett back will be crucial since Isa’s days are unfortunately numbered.

Seems like a pretty normal setup until Tunnicliffe shifts to cover Mr Invisible on their right flank and Bernardo ignores the open player to run off and not pressure the ball.9 players up for the corner in the 88th minute while you are leading 2-3 away from home.

It was 81 minutes, not deep into injury time. You would want the team to still be looking to score at that point.

Disagree, 9 men up with 1 defender back at that point of the game is just dumb. Keep another couple of players back.Seems like a pretty normal setup until Tunnicliffe shifts to cover Mr Invisible on their right flank and Bernardo ignores the open player to run off and not pressure the ball.9 players up for the corner in the 88th minute while you are leading 2-3 away from home.
