Irankunda is the best player in the A-League.
Big call! He’s certainly the player you most want to see on the ball.

Good to get the point.

I think it's evident the players and staff don't care whether they finish top 2. Rested a lot of players today.

Personally I think there is such little advantage finishing top 2 this season.

Some thoughts.

Thought Halloran played well until he let the missed chances get to him.
Popovic's stocks have dropped dramatically in the 2nd half of the year.
D'arrigo maybe the worst finisher inside the box in the squad?
Yull's selection resulted in little more than a non-threatening skills exhibition moving sideways 25m from goal. I don't get it?
Irankunda's best game for Adelaide

A bye into the GF qualifier would rate as a pretty big advantage in my book.

Eliminating Sydney teams is a moral duty too.

Yull's first start and probably 10th appearance total. Give him time.

Thought we were by far the better footballing side.
Thought we created many more chances and better chances.
Thought our youngsters really stepped up when needed. (But they are youngsters and are inconsistent through the game.)

I don’t think we rested players, I just think we didn’t play players who were carrying injuries. If it means they’re fit for finals then I’m all for it.

Big game on Friday now …. but it was always going to be.

Such an odd match for so many reasons. We deserved the win, but couldn't stop the bleeding of goals at our own end. It reminded me of the only other 4 - 4 draw in ALM history, when the Wallys drew with us at Coopers, earlier this season. Either side could have won it, but for some horrible defensive moments. I guess this bizarre, seesawing match is proof of the oldest adage in football, that frontlines win matches, but it's defences that win championships.

Hopefully Lachie Barr will return for Friday night's match against CCM, because Popovic, who tries his heart out and throws himself into every challenge, still needs the onfield coaching from Javi Lopez and, to a lesser extent, Isa. Not having Juande and Lachie Barr in our backline has made us much more porous.

We still deserve second, but beating CCM at Coopers will be tougher than trying to beat Perth away.

What a fascinating end to the ALM's season it is, though. There are only 3 points between seventh and twelfth; at the top of the table, there is only 1 point between us, CCM and the Wallys, covering second to fourth. It's difficult to remember a tighter finish to the season.

What a pathetic defensive effort , this has been happening all season, can’t believe CV has not fixed this problem , come finals this will be our downfall , warland either doesn’t talk much out there or he is crap , he has a lot of errors in his game . Injuries in the midfield has not helped either but the back four are so lose it’s scary

To be fair, CV has tried every possible combination of Warland, Ansell, Barr and Popovic. None of them have made themselves undroppable, except Popovic when he had his excellent run of form.

The problem is certainly made worse by an open midfield. Complain as we did about the Juande-Isaias partnership not being attacking enough, it certainly kept us more solid defensively.

You're being pretty harsh on all the defenders and CV too. Two of Perth's goals were scored in junk time, after 90 minutes of a game that was played at a frenetic pace. All the players, from both sides, were out on their feet. Our defenders would have run at least 11 - 12 kms by then; how much energy would you have after running the equivalent of a City - Bay?

Plus you haven't given due credit to Perth, who played really well for long periods of the match. There is a reason that they are only just outside the six, despite losing both their front men at the start of the season. Dowse was sending in some superb balls from the left, at least as well as Goody does and Taggart on his day is as sharp as Jamie McLaren. Their fourth goal was a combination between Dowse and Taggart and it was truly a superb effort; especially considering it came in the 93rd or 94th minute.

You need to start broadening your gaze and seeing the entirety of what is happening on the pitch. Your views are simplistic, ill thought and superficial. Perhaps try managing a professional football team yourself before you go sounding off again about the supposed shortcomings of our gaffer.

Can cop goals 1 and 4 that Perth scored, we leave ourselves a bit open for the counter and it is what it is. Goal 2 and especially goal 3 should never have happened.

Still played good football, and loved all the kids stepping up. Yull, Ivanovic and Nestor were all good. Friday should be a great game, both teams need to win.
