Not our night. Another pretty poor showing. Carl got it wrong again.
But that's football. Maybe getting the slump out of the way before finals is a good thing.
Jovanovic looked lost at sea. Halloran still way off his best. Losing Clough a killer.
Beautiful night to be at Hindmarsh and a shame to have to watch that. I sooooo hate losing to any team that has anything to do with Troisi.

Haven't read through the Jamboree so not sure what the vibe is or if it's been said already but surely Bernardo deserves a run, at least from the bench. For him to be fully fit and not to get a run ahead of an out of form Halloran or at least be backup for Clough at #10.

Or I might be missing something.

Picking Jovanovic didn't work but I can see the logic in it. I do love the fact that Carl will back a 17 year old in and the kid is going to learn from it.

We weren't our best but we weren't terrible either. Both Sydney and WU, came here to try and nullify us and hit us on the counter. They were quite disciplined but we still could have won this match with a bit more composure and/or luck. As others have said, just not our night.

Ibusuki’s on target header saved & off target header from a good position.
Halloran’s off target header from a good position.
Irankunda’s effort saved.
Bart’s header against the post.
Goody’s first half shot off target & mis-hit shot on target.
We made enough chances to win the game or at least draw (despite being very undermanned once Clough went off early).

We’ve persevered through Halloran’s long run of poor form, and unfortunately he just hasn’t improved. And to replace him with yet another youngster is problematic.
At least Isaias looked good when he came on, so hopefully that’s just what we need.

After the game is before the game.

Hate to harp on it but this is two games in a row we have falling back in to playing negative football , across the backline going forward and than passing all the way back . Add to that not been able to pass a ball to a team mate and no muscle in the tackle , it really seems we have hit the brick wall . Hope we can find are way back to playing a quicker tempo and pas the ball to a team mate . But saying that we had enough chances to win that game .

Yeah.
WU worked out that we are good when we're counterattacking into space, not so good when we have to pick our way through a packed defence sitting deep. We did have the chances, on another day a couple of those would have gone in, but pretty much we get done in by the opposition playing a compact game.
All I need is some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.

Didn't watch the game but does sound like we've been worked out. Give us space to play and we will kill you. So don't give us space. Makes for boring games but probably what we will see from our opponents in the finals.

Ed dog it’s not that simple, when we play at a snails pace and just keep knocking the ball from one side to the other and don’t look to go forward at all , that’s not taking space of us it’s us just not going forward

Sure, but it's hard to look forward when there are 10 opposition players behind the ball.

We don't have a creative midfield that can cut through it (very few teams do). So we revert to sidewards passes in a hope we open up a gap to exploit.

Possession games generally don't suit us. We prefer open / end to end games as we can counter attack lethally.
