All Welly are doing is route 1 footy and it's working. Need to be mindful of that ball over the top.

Welly have been the better team all half. We've just been gifted two goals.

Need to do a lot better.

Barbarousis off the post from an open goal. Just what did we sacrifice to the football gods tonight?

Adelaide United 2-0 Wellington Phoenix

How the hell did the Nix not score?
WTF was Gauci thinking?
Not a good look going into the national set up!

I know Gauci is a great shotstopper but his touch is terrible.

If he's gonna be the top 'keeper everyone wants him to be, there's a long way for him to go.

We need a big rocket at half time. Easily second best. Scoreline is flattering us big time.

Adelaide United 2-0 Wellington Phoenix

Half Time.

Strange half of football.

Welly will be wondering what happened.

60% possession for them, 11 shots to 5.

Dominating us all but where it counts.

I've lost count of the number of times we've been knocked off the ball.

Big, big rocket needed at half time and I wouldn't be waiting long for changes.

We got lucky with an own goal (sure we did create pressure) and poached one from a corner Wellington messed up a couple of chances to clear.
On the other hand Wellington created two dead set guaranteed goal opportunities and missed them both.

The 2-0 flatters us, but we have still been in the game.

The only thing Wellington has is the long clip over the top (for Barbarouses mostly). We need to sort that out, but I’m not sure how? Have to keep holding the high defensive line so our midfield press can work.
Maybe Jovanovic off to get some fresh legs pressing up front again. (IMO after about 30-35 minutes Jovanovic wasn’t able to sustain the high even if pressing.)

Barr heads it in from a corner.
Is this the same team we were playing in the first half?

Adelaide United 3-0 Wellington Phoenix

GOAL!

Now that was a great combination of one touch passes that culminated in the corner from which Barr scores with a great header!

How on earth are we 3-0 up?
Wellington have started the second half the stronger.
We don’t look any better than the end of the first half.

However a clear Wellington penalty (despite the crowd) brings it back to 3-1. (Not undeserved.)

Adelaide United 3-1 Wellington Phoenix
54min
Penalty for Wellington.

I don't think there was any contact there from Barnett but VAR overrules me and it a penalty and goal to Wellington.
