Hole. Lee. Shittttt.
What a turnaround.
Halloran up front, Goody central, Clough roaming CF and Irankunda on the wing!
How good did we look! Can we play without a target man every week? Those subs brought all our best assets into the game.
Cavallo was great when he came on too. Nestory with the composure to setup Clough rather than blast it.
Still shakey at the back but that final 40 minutes was a joy to watch.
Some football we can play when we use our feet.

The quality can be questionable but can’t fault the teams work ethic, belief and resilience. Got them over the the line today for a pretty unexpected win at 2-0.
Nestor a lucky boy on a 2nd yellow, but that’s Sean evans for ya!

Thought Cavallo looked better than D’arigo both defensively and especially going forward. I think he finished up at LB but it was a handy spell.

Agree. Deserves more game time. Wasn't that long ago that he was a standout at LB in an unnatural position. Would like to see him start next week in midfield.Thought Cavallo looked better than D’arigo both defensively and especially going forward. I think he finished up at LB but it was a handy spell.

D'Arrigo looks very erratic and is unfortunately not good enough either on the ball or challenging for it. He came through in Isa's ilk but he's just not got the strength or ball control to play at 6.

We’re sitting third and we’re the form team in the league.
Yet we still get comments about being lucky to get a result, our players not being good enough, etc.
Are we just over performing and will get found out, or is it just normal fan pessimism wanting perfection and we really are the third (second?) best team in the league?

We have far to many defensive midfielders , come to think about we don’t really have any attacking midfielders , clough gives us nothing shame we didn’t pick up a class midfielder, this area will be our downfall again

City and Mariners probably better than us on their day. Otherwise, why not us for third best? We’re sitting third and we’re the form team in the league.

For all of our obvious shortcomings we have grit and character and enough talent to beat anyone.

Attacking hasn’t been our problem. Your comment about Clough giving us nothing is just hyperbole. He contributes.

Clough & Alagich are our two attacking midfielders.
But we’ve also played Blackwood, Halloran, Goodwin and Ibusuki in that position as a false 9, which is an even more attacking option.
Now I’ve answered your question, would you like to have a go at mine? If we have such a massive problem with the attacking midfield position, how are we the third top scorers, the form team in the league and sitting second?

I think we are splitting hairs here.
We need a functioning midfield that screens the defence and feeds the attack.
Who is who and what is what is irrelevant as long as it works.

They say the table never lies, but I can't help thinking it's telling a few porkies having us in third.
Only a major optimist (Otto ?) would say that we deserved to win the last two home games, and without those 6 gift wrapped points we would be in 9th place.
The conclusion that I'm coming to is that Clough & Ibusuki cannot play together in a functioning forward line, which is a real shame. On their current body of work over their respective spells at the club you would have to say that Hiro has shown more promise, but he's in a deep hole form wise at the moment.
