Zach Clough

Time to call it quits and move him on as it just hasn't worked out. Not enough x factor for a visa player imo.

He's had plenty of time to acclimatize and to gel with teammates and it just hasn't happened. I had high hopes for him and Hiro to develop into a good big man/little man combo up front, but they play like strangers. Hiro's form has dipped alarmingly and I'm not sure that's not due to ZC being a regular starter in the 10 role.

Prove me wrong please Zach. Clocks ticking...

No lies here. Hasn't shown enough for a visa player.

Was much better with the change of formation.

You can see he's got the class, he just gets bundled off the ball too easily.

Neat finish and will do wonders for his confidence.

You can see he has class......... At times.

Goes missing for long periods and is prone to cock ups like the one in the first half, slipped the ball behind Halloran in a goal scoring position, then skied the rebound. We don't need an import to do that.

Oh for the days of Flores-Carrusca. What happened to that scouting well?

For me he plays to high and does not come looking for the ball , a light wind can blow him of the ball , he just doesn’t seem like he wants to work hard for the team , Alaric his a much better option

Was that Michael Petrillo's influence? He was a big loss to Melbourne City along with Galekovic and Carrusca at the same time.

Petrilo still at city and doing a great job, like he did at AU. Perhaps a bigger loss than we realised at that time.
As for Clough, much better but let’s see if he can do that for 2-3 games at least.

Credit where credit's due. Zach has shown a distinct improvement over the last couple of games. His close control and distribution on Friday night were excellent.

I don't think it's a coincidence though that he started to shine once Hiro went off. I think we have to face up to the fact that our 2 attacking imports may be incompatible.

Agree.

He's been a very slow burn, but at 27 years of age, if he can keep fit, I think he can become one of our best.

He seems to be very happy and seems to love Adelaide, so hopefully we can hold onto him long term.

Who knows, he may even turn into a foreign club legend à la Isa, Cassio or Carrusca...

I would not go that far as to call him a legend , but he had his best game since joining , but would like to see him protect the ball just a bit better , hope he can can continue his good form

IMO there is no one who has made a bigger mark on the club on or off the pitch. The training centre was thanks to him. That provided the club with regularly match fit players like Carrusca and Djite which until the championship season they rarely had.
When I think of the championship season I think of Michael. Which is sad because he wasn't even at the grand final.
I feel a big part of the culture of AU that the club always looks to develop their own is the legacy Michael left us with. Which obviously following on from the tradition that Adelaide has always punched above their weight in developing national league and Socceroos talent.

Anybody got an update on Clough's injury?
I'm in the UK at the moment and a bit out of the loop.
It seems he's gone from "import bust" to "star player"
Quite the turnaround.
