If fit I'd start Juande over Kasumovic for a bit more defensive mettle in our first away game.

Ansell, Cavallo and Yull could all miss. Not sure how fit they are at present but they have been missing some of the friendlies.

Wellington will be missing Rufer, Lewis and Ball do I hope we get on the front foot. They’ll have to play Pennington at DM and he was pretty horrendous last season.

Re: Preview: Wellington Phoenix - Adelaide United /9.10.22
On history, we should win this 2 - 1 or 3 - 1, but it being the first game of the season, with essentially all the selection cards thrown in the air, it's really hard to pick. I wouldn't be surprised if we drop this and the next 2 away matches also - starting the year with 3 straight losses.
We have a whole bunch of home games in the long summer break (late Dec 22 - mid Jan 23), but it will take an almighty effort to come back from losing the first 3.
Although to be completely fair, that is what we did in the championship season of 15-16 .... as I recall we did not win until Rd 9 under Gombau ... is that right ....?
Anyway, if we can snatch a point from each of the first 3 games, I think we will have done exceptionally well - and is the probably the best that we can hope for, with Ibusuki banned for the first one and Bernardo out until (late?) Jan 23.

I think it's time to call time on Ansell. Yet to play in the A-League for us after how long?
Goody will get maybe 10-15 in this if we need a winner / equaliser late on.
Enough cattle to get the job. Expect Blackwood up front, Halloran and Clough either side.
Midfield of Isa / D'Arrigo then a question mark.
Defence picks itself as does GK.
Points on the road are vital.
Expecting 1-1.

Re: RE: Re: Preview: Wellington Phoenix - Adelaide United /9.10.22
I'd play Kasumovic on the left wing and have Clough at CM. Kasumovic played there against the NPL select and looked decent enough. If we're gonna play a kid somewhere it might as well be on the left wing. I have a feeling if we play without a decent CM/CAM it'll be a frustrating game.I think it's time to call time on Ansell. Lots of people in and around the club talking up Clough this season.
Let's hope he delivers.
