At home … vs … Brisbane Roar
Good result.

Quarters are the minimum requirement for a good pre-season. Means we have a competitive fixture only a few weeks out from the season proper.

Halloran is just absolute class isn't he. His touch is just

Shame his time in Korea didn't work out. Would have been in the frame for a Socceroos call up.

Few average performances tonight but we got the job done.

Feel for Dakota in the shootout. Guessed the right way as much as Gauci but just jumped over the ball too much.

Wiki suggests the quarters will be 10-14 September so 3 or so weeks out from season proper. Perfect really.

Just thinking how nice it would be to have a quality number 10 after watching last night.

Not convinced Clough is going to be that man.

Strikes me more as a CF / Winger / Second striker.

Yeh I agree. I don't think Konstand, Blackwood or Clough are good enough there but Clough is the best of the 3. They definitely aren't Flores or Carrusca.

Am I wrong or was Clough not playing as a 10 last night? He was on the wing and it didn't suit him. Mind you, he scored and AC certainly targeted him, so they must think he's the goods!

I think Clough will be ok. He was bringing a lot more players into the game than before and was quite active in the transition.

That said I think in our squad the best #10 is Ibusuki; fantastic at getting the a ball under pressure, on his own, in the middle of the pitch and then confounding defenders long enough to lay off a pass for an oncoming attacking midfielder. Once he has the ball you know something is going to happen.

I think you're right. He was more of a winger last night. Probably because Halloran and Goody are still out and Veart wants his best 11 on the pitch.

-Clough-
-Halloran-Ibusuki-Goody-

Is probably the lineup I'd like to see.

Brisbane are a shambles at the moment, I will be really disappointed if we don't put them to the sword.
All I need is some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.

It's at that tin pot little stadium again. Get ready for the horrendous parking and a 20 minute wait for hot food :bang:

Just arrived back late that’s all. He only got back from holiday a day or two before the club announced his signing

Felt the ticket prices were a bit steep too not that I begrudge City trying to get a pay day out of it.
A bit more reasonable for this next game.

Any reason why they can't get additional food trucks in? I've never been to the ground, however on TV there appeared ample space.
