Obviously 4th spot has got to be the aim this weekend with the massive incentive of a home game in the one off elimination final up for grabs.
The timing of the remaining fixtures means that there is a slim, all be it unlikely chance that we won’t need anything from Sunday’s game against Western United. CCM play the Jets on Saturday night, and we simply have to match their result to make sure of finishing above them. If Wellington fail to beat Wanderers tonight then they have no chance of overhauling us due to their very ordinary goal difference. But they will be heavy favourites against a team with nothing to play for, and if the Nix win we may be left sweating on their last game against City next Monday night if we don’t win on Sunday. They will be a point behind us with a win tonight, so if that happens anything other than a victory against WU will leave us vulnerable to being leapfrogged by the sheep worriers if they manage to beat the potentially deflated “out of Asia without losing a game” Melbourne City in their last game.
So c’mon WSW and Newy. It would be nice to sit back and relax at Coopers on Sunday evening, safe in the knowledge that it definitely won’t be our last home game.

Nice wrap, COYR!
Interesting that the semi finals are a home and away match. That'd be sweet. We are good enough to make things very interesting!

Re: Fourth place
CV just has to pick an initial eleven players who can last 75 minutes at a blistering pace. Then all he has to do is bring on our super subs to finish the game off. So probably not the game to start with Yengi, Bernardo, Cavallo or Darrigo.
Re: Fourth place
Simple equation: we win and we don't have to worry about other results.
Our only other game against WU this season was a narrow 1-0 loss away from home, where we had more possession and chances but they scored from their one shot on goal.
Winning builds confidence into the finals as well.
Would be sick if they played the games simultaneously but alas it's not happening (at least not in the way it should).

Re: Fourth place
Unfortunately the Nix managed to dispense with Where’s Wally Wanderers last night, so the heat is on to chalk up a win on Sunday.
It won’t be easy, especially if Victory don’t beat Sydney tomorrow night as that will mean WU will still have a shot at the plate if they can win against us. But of course the big incentive for them is finishing in the top 2 and getting that all important bye into the semis. So they will also have plenty to play for regardless, as that top 2 spot will still be up for grabs even if MV don't win with City not playing until Monday.
So much for a stress free Sunday evening, but as EdDog alluded to – perhaps it’s better that we have a full on, competitive hit out leading into the “win or go home” matches to come.

Unless Newcastle can pull a Real Madrid here we're gonna need all three points

... and to make it a truly disappointing Saturday night for us, the filth just smacked Sadney.
It's always wonderful to see Sadney lose .... but to the filth ...?!
It was one of those matches in which you want both teams to lose.
Anyway - no excuses, no stupid mathematical calculations - we just have to beat the Western Homeless. It could not be any clearer for us.

Re: Fourth place
The silver lining is that Western now have to play for a win to regain a top 2 spot (a draw is no good to them), so hopefully that opens them up a bit more at the back.

Re: Fourth place
A simple win against us means Western only have a “chance” of a top two spot (needing City to lose their last game).
Western need to beat us by 6 to make sure of a top 2 spot, which there’s no way they’ll do.
Maybe they’ll settle for 3rd and rest some of their key players before the finals? (After all they did play Wednesday.)
