How did we win that.
Against their forward line we had a teenager and an NPL player who've barely played 10 games between them.
Wow.

I had a work call from Istanbul and I missed something!

Blackwood has won Adelaide a lot of points for someone who cops so much flack. (Has lost a few as well to be fair.)

Just looked up Blackwoods record.Blackwood has won Adelaide a lot of points for someone who cops so much flack. (Has lost a few as well to be fair.)
He scored 1 in his first 14 games for us, which drew a not unexpected assessment of his ability.
Since then he’s scored 20 in about 71 - so 1 every 3.5 games.
I think 1 in 3 is a very good striker, so he’s not far off that.

Never in doubt was that win
Not sure how we won that but always nice to beat the smurfs, but some serious defensive concerns which if sfc had finished, would have been over before we snatch that.
Anyway well done reds

Agree but when you look at our defence, is it any wonder? This team put on 5 against CCM last week.Never in doubt was that win

Still buzzing.

I actually rate him as a squaddie. Now Ibusuki is there to lead the line the pressure is off him a bit too.Just looked up Blackwoods record.Blackwood has won Adelaide a lot of points for someone who cops so much flack. (Has lost a few as well to be fair.)

He was a whisker onside too.

Was Carl’s post match interview held at the same time as Corrica?
Only two journos and both were on the phone from Adelaide.
I’m looking forward to hearing Corrica complain. When they won 5-0 he was “I knew what I could do with these players”. My guess is this time he’ll throw them under the bus. That’s pretty much the end of their playoff chances. He must be under so much pressure.

Carl Veart continues to work minor miracles with a makeshift squad. As I've said before, this isn't even our second string team; it's the third stringers and yet we are competitive, we keep fighting to the very end and we continue to stun teams that underestimate us - which Sadney traditionally does. Maybe they should speak to MC Petrodollars about underestimating AUFC .....
Lots to consider from last night, but here are some facts to prompt re-evaluation in anyone who doubted CV or his gameplan: we have now scored 12 goals at or after the 84th minute; those goals have gained us five wins and four draws; and we have gained 19 points because of those post-84th minute goals. Let's be blunt - without 'Veart time', we would either be dead last or second last and this forum would be calling for CV's head. It is precisely because of CV and his gameplan of always pressing high, pressuring the ball carrier and then overloading the opposition 18yd box, though, that we are now 4th in the league.
Its a makeshift squad that looks nothing like the team that he and Ross A built in the off season, but we are now 4th in the league and realistically looking at finishing third. If the footballing gods had announced to us at the start of the season that the side would be gutted by Covid, that we would lose Halloran and Mauk overseas, that Jako would spend more time injured than playing, that Isa would be sent to centre half to shore up the backline and that we would call up both a 15 y.o. kid in the front line and a 16 y.o. keeper - AND that despite all of that, we would finish at least fourth and possibly third - do you think that we would have gladly accepted that?

Yeah, without a doubt, CV has proven that he has the smarts and the motivational technique to get a well-beyond-expectations result from this team. It's been a weird season and most teams have been up and down but AU have been hit hard, played a lot of games, lost great players and managed a bunch of young boys, while creating some really exciting and watchable football. Veart was the right appointment for this time and I'm glad that he's in charge. That doesn't mean I'll pretend that I love everything he does but it does mean he knows a shit-load more about managing a team than I do so I'll try and be quieter when I disagree.
