Re: Zach Clough
Looks a reasonable fit for us. Not too expensive, not too old and no longer dreaming of playing EPL. Hopefully he settles in and becomes a solid, long-term #10 for us with the creativity to bring more out of Mo & Hiro.
Re: RE: Re: Zach Clough
Well said. He also wants to play here which is a massive tick - sounds like he asked to be released from his contract to join us! I wonder if Brook and him know each other from his stint in the UK?Looks a reasonable fit for us. Not too expensive, not too old and no longer dreaming of playing EPL. If the rumours were true about us going after Castro at one stage, I think this is a much better appointment for Mauk's replacement.

Re: Zach Clough
EdDog, I just want to confirm that Zach Clough did negotiate a free transfer and that he was still under contract until 2023. I agree with the fact that, at 26 years of age, that he is a better fit than Diego Castro.
To any Red Army members on this forum. Football people in the UK have told me that he is highly rated and that the fans really liked his creativity and cracking goals.
Apparently, the fans had a song about him. To the tune of, "It must be love, love love," fans would sing:
"It must be Cough, Clough, Clough,
It must be Clough, Clough, Clough
Nothing more, nothing less,
Clough is the best."
I am sure that if the Red Army sing this, that he would feel right at home. Over to you lads!!

Re: Zach Clough
Rubbish signing, club would've been better off moving Bernardo to his natural position #10 and then actually playing Brook as right winger
Clough is going to flop badly

Have you seen him play? Keen to hear why he's rubbish.Rubbish signing, club would've been better off moving Bernardo to his natural position #10 and then actually playing Brook as right winger

Re: RE: Re: Zach Clough
He was at Bolton so long, don’t discount a possible Scott Jamieson link there either.. even if it was just an awareness of some older Bolton kid going to Australia and some club named Adelaide?I wonder if Brook and him know each other from his stint in the UK?

Re: Zach Clough
Given his career goal/games record I would presume he's more often played as a #10. On paper that's exactly the player the club has needed since Troisi left.
If his wiki stats are right he's played 2 dozen games this season already so he SHOULD as fit as anyone in the side! At 26 this guys ticks a lot of boxes.

Wow, love your optimism
All I know is he was doing some things in that video that George Blackwood could only dream of doing.

Optimism or realism? the English have had way more failures then success stories in the a leagueRubbish signing, club would've been better off moving Bernardo to his natural position #10 and then actually playing Brook as right winger

They would be right up there for worst performing nationality.
The chances of Clough being a gun are minimal

If he gets his body right and starts enjoying his football, the chances of him being a gun are very good. Re: Zach Clough
Adelaide is a fantastic place to play football. Big empty beaches, superb standard of living and as a professional footballer you'll be of sufficiently little interest to the local media that you can enjoy yourself at the pub or at a winery in the Barossa without worrying about seeing your mug on the front page of the local rag.If he gets his body right and starts enjoying his football, the chances of him being a gun are very good. That's a big if mind you.

When you've watched him play AndyJebiga, does he do anything in particular that makes him rubbish? Like any specific examples? What is he like as a player?Optimism or realism? the English have had way more failures then success stories in the a leagueRubbish signing, club would've been better off moving Bernardo to his natural position #10 and then actually playing Brook as right winger

I haven't seen him play myself so I'm always interested when someone has a first hand account of his performances.

Re: Zach Clough
We needed an AM so willing to give this guy a chance irrespective of nationality.
To me he seems a typical AU signing which may mean 50/50 success, but the fundamentals seem to be there with this one and if the alternative is George B, give me Clough any day.
