Bizarre collection of international chicanery somehow lands in Adelaide and remains secret for 5 Years!

Meanwhile we keep putting out a first XI of mostly local players with a local coach and are as good as anyone in the league. This is Boys Own stuff. Fantastic story.

This is the aspect of the club I don't want to see changed.

More money, sure, but invest it into facilities, youth-coaching support for SA NPL clubs, community outreach and the like.

Errr, so what’s with this???https://adelaideunited.com.au/news/vale-rob-van-eck
The black arm bands were worn in last nights semi to mark Rob Van Eck’s passing. The above article was posted on the club website the following day after Cor Adriaanse was revealed as the majority owner of AU and aside from the above article in the link, this doesn’t seem to be mentioned anywhere else on the internet.. even on this forum.
It was mentioned on the telecast last night by Robbie Thomson
Odd.
Can anyone shed any light?

yeah, I too thought it was weird at the game, when Jarrod Walsh pregame referred to his passing as having happened “last month”

that was our 5th home game since his passing

what you just posted RedRebel, makes this seem even stranger

Piet Van Der Pol is suing AU for $600k unpaid wages per the Tiser. We apparently paid him through the company that owns the Chinese club... All sounds very dodgy.

I also saw unverified sources on Twitter say we are unhappy with the conditions at our Playford training base and are lobbying for upgrades, as it is a contributing factor to our soft tissue injuries.

Oh dear, interesting off season.

I’m not following any of this. Piet was the front man for a secretive consortium that was probably in Holland but also owned a Chinese team. After several years the name of the main backer is revealed, but around that time Piet is dispensed with, his “job” is given to a bloke from Melbourne and another Director / Owner dies but no one is told for a month or two. And Piet never worked for AUFC.

Someone join the dots for me.

The guy who was going to buy Adelaide United but then decided to purchase Catania in Sicily has now become the new Perth Glory owner.
Perth Glory have finally landed a new owner, with property developer Ross Pelligra setting big goals for the A-Leagues club.

Did I hear right that he only paid a $1 for the licence ?

A sad reflection on the state of the league if true.

Seems to be.
I don't know if you saw this article.
We seem to be in a mess again.
Professional Footballers Australia, the players’ union, has gone public with concerns about the direction of the A-Leagues and the management of the domestic competitions by operator APL, shattering the private protocols usually obeyed by football’s key stakeholders.

A team from Canberra and another from Auckland when Newcastle and Perth were ownerless? Madness. Perth now have an owner of course but the league is fragile apart from Sydney Victory and City. WU is a debacle really and MacArthur what is that even?
