Adelaide United 1-2 Melbourne Victory

Blackwood heads over.
That was the chance for him.

Game over.
And we have to play this mob again on Saturday.

Bloody hell.

I think we did well. Could have won it but did well with the team we had. 1st half was good. 2nd half was tired.

Really disappointing to see such a strong first half performance completely go to waste. Especially given the side that started and the players that stood out in the first half. IMO AU's season depends on this visa striker coming in and being decent.

An honorouble loss is still a loss at the end of the day.
Simply not good enough up front as usual

How did Geriatric avoid a yellow card for grabbing Juande and throwing him to the ground? Doesn’t matter if it was a second yellow. He should have been off.

And why did we sign Blackwood again? Looks even slower than before he went O/S!

At least he was a target who would hold the ball up front and play others in. Great chance at the end. If he’d scored that we’d be singing his praises.

I don't recall him doing that tonight. I think for that to work it needs to be something the club does from the start and over a long term period.

Some great individual play and a few nice team moves come to nothing because we can't field a player in every position.
D'Arrigo was absolutely rubbish. He seems to have lost all confidence and a fair bit of skill.
Calletti at false 9! Wow.
With Halloran gone, Mauk gone, Yengi gone, both decent keepers out, Isaias ageing, Toure disappeared and Blackwood our only forward it's going to be a very, very long season.
I was there on Saturday and there tonight but after being a fan from day 1 even I am starting to wonder whether the club is simply taking us for granted.
Yeah, yeah....Covid...whatever....we're in trouble.

aaargh, watched the replay and must say I was surprised we were as competitive as we were. Given our outs it doesn't say much for Victory.

Hall went ok.

We're fielding the thirds, given all the departures and outs. It's probably a blessing to be out of the Cup; at least we can concentrate on salvaging something from the league matches. The squad is far too thin to push into the finals, but we might jag sixth by the end of the season, which would be something.

Also, I think that we may expect too much of whoever is about to brought in. It took Isa 6 months to adjust to the local game and there were plenty of contributors on this forum calling for his head and for the recruiting staff to be sacked. One new striker, no how matter how good he is, does not turn around an entire team. Look at Ronaldo at Man U; he's the world's highest paid sportsman and even he can't make Man U look like a team.

Best we can do is to keep supporting AUFC through the tough times ahead and recognise that this year will not be our year.
