More Bernardo types and dynamic play is majorly missing. Young barely did anything today.
Season has that sinking feeling, it’s hard to watch our play compared to a few years back

This isn't it. We've got problems that I can't see us fixing. It's not like our championship year where we were waiting for things to click.
Big personnel and recruitment issues.
Big tactical issues.
Sucks to be an Adelaide and Leeds fan this week.

Somebody summed it up well here at the end of last year.
"I don't want Carl gone, I want Carl to be better"
He'll start to get some pressure now but honestly how can we have the longest off season in the world and a month in to the season Goodwin, Mauk, Yengi, Bernardo, Toure and maybe some others don't have the tank to get through 90minutes. I'm not coping excuses for the young ones either, the egg ball codes have shown us 18 year olds can do it.
So we have a problem with fitness and we have a problem with Carl's inability to alter the formation to suit the squad. We don't have a 10 and Mauk looks like his leg is still broken so every week we see the No9 isolated, why not switch to 4-4-2 or play some kind of shadow striker? Because were stacked with DM's and he's picking the most talented XI for the formation he wants to play.
Frustrating night.

feels like Veart is trying to compensate for a lack of actualy defenders by playing an overly defensive style and getting very little either way as a result.
Unfit Mauk is a big problem too. I'd still have him in the best XI players in his current shape, but he can't play the role he was playing at the start of last season.
Would start Kitto at LB. Let Cavallo be an impact sub as needed.
Subs were correct, but came too late.

That was me. I wanted him to improve but we're not seeing anything new yet. Some positive play here and there this season, a good run in the bubble and those 5 wins in a row last season have papered over some big cracks. We can only say so many times that we were the better team but couldn't put away our chances or that we just need a bit of luck.Somebody summed it up well here at the end of last year.

I suppose on the up side it is now in English and not in Turkish ...
Ok now back to 2min.
Is this live on TEN?

That was Maukward. Probably should have been a draw though with that unpaid advantage. Need someone who can smash a ball in...go wide go wide...bad cross bad cross.

Terrible news.
Only decent defender in that back 4.
Timotheu and Tratt our only two recognised central defenders now. Would have to be the worst pairing in the league I would think.

Timotheou actually got dropped from the bench in place of Popovic so we might see him. Juande might also play in the back 4.Terrible news.

Either way, it’s looking pretty grim.

Watching a few of the other league games, I can be mad at the team. We just don't have the cattle.
We have some decent players don't get me wrong, but we are light years away from the top 3 or 4 teams.
I think we need to temper our expectations. We are going to need to play well above ourselves to just make finals this year.

I'm very much getting a 2009-10 season feeling about the team. That time we were in the fight for the majority of the season but we lacked the cattle to create chances (Adam Hughes was a hard working player but a number 10 he is not) and score the goals (raise the roof Owusu) we needed to win.Watching a few of the other league games, I can be mad at the team. We then signed Flores and Van Dijk for the champions league and started to look much much better.

Both Yengi and Toure both have very bright futures but it's evident that they are best for cameos of the bench.
Grinding out 90 minutes and feeding off scraps takes a lot of mettle and it's all the more harder for young players to excel at that role.
Goody and Halloran, whilst 2 of the best wingers in the comp, are playing well below their best at the moment.
We have 3 DMs in Isa, D'Arrigo and Juande who do not complement each other at all when on the pitch together, and then our "10" Mauk, whilst industrious, is not a creative mid but more of a centre forward.
To top it off we have an ageing and makeshift defense.
Few too many square pegs that Carl is trying to squeeze into round holes and it's not working (as much as he relentlessly persists with it each week).
