Wow what a list we have here! I reckon this is the toughest poll yet!
Pick your top three wingers. Two will start and third place will earn a spot on the bench.
Real interested to hear why certain players got your votes!

Re: WATRs Greatest AU Side - Wingers
Dodd, Goody and Cirio. Purely down to the fact these three showed quality over several seasons.
Burns, Leckie, Ferreira, Mabil, Spags, Absalonsen all deserve a special mention.

I was dreading this one when I saw the original plan tp pick a side. Now I've seen the names I can confirm my fears were well founded.

Definitely the toughest yet.
I went Dodd, Leckie and Goodwin.
It was a real struggle to not pick Cirio, I think if he was an Aussie he would have gotten my vote, also if Goodwin wasn't currently playing.
Halloran and Mabil also very unlucky.

Bloody hell we've had some good wingers over the years!! How good!!!
Should Pablo Sanchez make this list? Not sure he'd be top 3 but thought he played there a fair bit.
If he is listed as a striker then that's fine.

Yeah I did think about adding him here. He was generally a striker though so I'll have him there.Bloody hell we've had some good wingers over the years!! How good!!!

Re: WATRs Greatest AU Side - Wingers
Stats wise - in order of goals scored (seeing as we're getting up to the forward line). Bearing in mind that some of these (e.g. Kitto) often played fullback. Really clear how good our wingers have been and how much we've relied on them. A few of those guys were very prolific, I'd kind of forgotten how good the likes of Jeronimo & Ferreira were. And Iain Ramsay!
I went with Dodd, Goody and Cirio. As exciting as guys like Leckie and Mabil were, they were only around for a short period and didn't have time to make themselves crucial to the team.
A goal every 2 games for Absalonsen - imagine if he had stayed fit!
Dodd (30 goals in 137 appearances)
Goodwin (28 goals in 102)
Cirio (20 goals in 99)
Halloran (16 goals in 72)
Jeronimo (16 goals in 51)
Mileusnic (14 goals in 86)
Ferreira (13 goals in 51)
Ramsay (11 goals in 78)
Kitto (9 goals in 105) (has played many of those from fullback though)
Pantelis (9 goals in 51)
Burns (9 goals in 35)
Mabil (8 goals in 47)
Leckie (8 goals in 35)
Absalonsen (6 goals in 12)
Kamau (3 goals in 29)
Kostopoulos (3 goals in 21)
Toure (2 goals in 30)
Spagnuolo (1 goal in 44) (would have been 2 if Romario hadn't nicked it)
Petta (1 goal in 20)
Lozanovski (0 goals in 14)
Kamara (0 goals in 1)

All I need is some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.

Re: WATRs Greatest AU Side - Wingers
Totally. Goody's stats like Kitto's are hindered by significant time spent in defence as well. I'd say roughly 30 appearances. Its just a pity assists aren't as well documented as goals when it comes to stats as that would be a telling point to show. But also one very underrated aspect of playing on the wing is work rate. Quite a few of these players provided a lot of defensive cover before joining attacks. The player that sticks out in my mind for that was Rambo. He had pace to burn and would be up and down the side line for 90 mins a game, for a period doing it twice a week during AU's 2012 ACL run to the quarters. The bloke was a machine.Stats wise - in order of goals scored (seeing as we're getting up to the forward line). Bearing in mind that some of these (e.g. Kitto) often played fullback. True, but for all the stats only one players has even been described as "up like a salmon, a spawning salmon!"
