Veart has lost us this one. Had all the momentum but got completely derailed by the formation change.

This has happened several times this year.
Yep.

Vaert's in-game management and team selections are clearly achilles heels of his.

Two weeks we’ve dismantled our effective midfield & changed formation. Last week we held in ... just. Thus week we’ve paid the price.
I know I'll get slaughtered for this but Veart's in game management is pretty ordinary.

Literally the only thing he changes in the second half is throw on a couple of strikers regardless of the scoreline.
I'm not a huge fan of Carl Veart's coaching. His substitutions are either too late, ineffective or 3+ strikers on the field at the same time. He seems to have no plan B ever.
His unfair freezing out of Marrone has left a sour taste in my mouth too tbh.

Veart has done great things this year in many ways. But no one’s perfect.

I don't think anyone's doubting that but he has a couple of very glaring weaknesses as well,

Cannot play the toure bros together, they offer nothing defensively.

They can be played together if the midfield behind them is structured right, but Veart got it all wrong in this game in the mids after he started making subs.

I'm really disappointed that Carl didn't take some ownership of this result and defend his players who are in the middle of a gruelling run of fixtures over a very short space of time.
The substitutions could have worked. We could have caught them on the counter a couple of times and clinched the game, but the fact is they didn't and it was plain to see that.
Something along the lines of "I rolled the dice, it didn't work, my bad" would have made the loss a tad less gut wrenching for me at least.
IIRC he did accept some responsibility for a loss early in his tenure, and I thought at the time that it was a good sign for the future. Oh well.
