I find it hard to be disappointed in Caletti, he's done fine for someone you'd expect less than zero of. D'Arrigo has been much more disappointing to me. He's a better player than Caletti, but thats not much good if his performances drop off completely in any role other than hyper defensive cleanup midfielder.

Adelaide's best XI probably has both Toure's, Juric, Mauk and Halloran in it. That's going to be hard to make work without some weird assymetrical formation or something with a back 3

Caletti has had a couple of good games and no-one can question his work-rate. The real question is, 'What is he actually doing in there?". D'Arigo is a much better screening DM than Caletti and needs to be back there, doing what he does best. He is our mini-Isaias. Mauk can do the scrambling (he's an 8 - not a 10) and we need to get one of the younger lads to be the ten while we haven't a natural fit.
Yengi is a CF and NOT a winger. Dukaly is out of his depth. The Toure's can play wing or central but need to understand team discipling better. All fine as they're very young.
Three at the back may well be the way forward with advanced wingbacks. Halloran may have to be one and Kitto the other.
Or play Tomi as a false 9 with the Toures running off him. He's a brilliant ball-player but he's not exactly lightning quick!
Maybe a 3-4-1-2? Can't be worse than what we have?

Marrone - Elsey - Timotheou
Halloran - D'Arrigo - Mauk - Kitto

I like how the club is operating bringing local youngsters through, and bringing back our home grown players. We've been crying out for it (not just in Adelaide but across the league) and AUFC are delivering.

However, I was perplexed by the substitutions in the Glory game when we effectively changed from 4-3-3 (in a hard fought first half) to 4-2-4 while trying to hold onto a slender 1-0 lead. Our two wide midfielders were strikers who seemed to have no idea that they should have been playing much narrower and only pushing wide when needed. In the end Konsta & Caletti were on their own in midfield and got smashed by Castro and Kilkenny who were finding space at will to play little one-twos and pick out killer passes.

But I'm not disillusioned with the club or with the A-League. Everyone makes mistakes. Hopefully Veart learns from it. With our squad, if we can scrape into the top 6 while still playing (not quite so many at once) youngsters we will have had a good season all things considered.

Marrone - Elsey - Timotheou
Halloran - D'Arrigo - Mauk - Kitto
Urich
Toure Toure
This is bang on, though no to for Jako in your back 3?

I still like the 4-3-3 and would happily see Yengi come off the bench for Juric, AH Toure has shown he can play wing or lead the line, so horses for courses.

D'Arrigo should be the screener, Mauk box-to-box and Caletti no.10.

Maybe:

Marrone Timotheau Elsey Smith
-------------- D'Arrigo
----------- Mauk Caletti
Halloran ---_------------------ AH Toure
---------------- Juric

Clearly Lopez in the XI when fit. Kitto and Toure to mix it up.

Just assumed Jacko was injured.
Not sure Caletti is a 10.
I'm guessing Carl will learn from last Friday and we'll be a little more careful in future.
