We Are The Reds

It's embarrassing and unforgiveable that we do not yet have a Lady Reds thread - unless I have completely missed it? If so, then apologies up front!

If not, then this is it!

I love watching the women's games in general and the Lady Reds in particular. The women footballers seem more interested in actually playing the game and not hacking each other down, or staging for non-existent free kicks, or backchatting the referee, or indulging in all the other tiresome antics that blight the men's game. Perhaps the men's game (at all levels) would be improved if they started attending a few of the women's matches?

Anyway, feel free to jump in and add your thoughts to this discussion. To kick off a few potential threads, I think that this AUFC women's team is the strongest that we have ever put on the park, with an impressive blend of youth and experience. Their best players for me are Emily Condon, a traditional #8 who is their midfield general, Mallory Weber as a creative DM and Charlotte Grant, a traditional defender who has been reinvented as a wingback and who is one of the fastest players that I have seen in any competition. My tip is that she will wear a Matildas shirt within 2 years.

If you have not been to any of their games at MARS yet, then I would strongly encourage you. It's free for members and for someone who has young daughters, it's a wonderful way to inspire girls and young women to play our wonderful game.

Again, apologies if I have completely missed existing Lady Reds threads!

Without looking I'm certain there has been Lady Red threads before. But I agree it would be great to see more chat on the girls on here more often!

Two wins over Perth Glory!

Come on United!

After the win i came here to post in a lady reds thread, i swear we had one but i could not find it.
This year we look like a real shot for finals for the first time.
Glad emily condon scored the winner after missing that open goal!
I thought Perth looked really good with their ball movement but our girls were just far more dangerous up front.

I've never seen a more 'integrated' Lady Reds team than this one. Everyone knows her role on the park and they always looked in control in both matches against Perth. There is an atmosphere of ruthless efficiency about the Lady Reds now that bodes very well for the future. I think that much of the credit for this new ruthlessness must lie with Adrian Stenta, who has recruited well and instilled a patient possession game with a high press as their defining tactic.

Another win to our fabulous Lady Reds - 2 - 1, which means we are equal top with Sadney. Looking good for our first appearance in finals. Three consecutive wins, for the first time in 4 years. A superb all round team effort in truly punishing heat.

Much better effort and outcome than what the men dished up last night .... :-7

I enjoyed watching the lady reds last night and tbh, have found the games more fun to watch than the men this season. Refreshing to see none of the flopping, diving etc.
It actually looks like more effort has gone into assembling the lady reds squad than the men!

Anyway they are looking good so far.

Shame ... they played really well and looked the better side for most of the match, but were undone about 10 minutes from time. Can't fault their intent though ....

Not sure it's appropriate to refer to a ladies team as "the filth". Perhaps we could tone it down a bit to "the slightly soiled" ?
