Season is slipping away, we need to arrest the slide.

As much as things change, they stay the same at AU.
Start in a blaze of glory, fizzle out by Ed 12, and splutter across the finish line to scrape in or just miss out on finals.
We also don’t have any money, yet the Nix seem to be able to recruit. But we can pay 65k to a Chinese youth team player... go figure

I'd love to know if the "no money" thing means no money in the cap, no more money this season, no more money ever, not enough money in cap to get a decent Australian player that will improve the squad.

I think he means not enough money.

I think he said,
"Money. (pause for effect ) Money ... They have better players."
I'm wondering how the lads are feeling.

Do you think he's wrong? Are Sydney's players not better than ours? Do Sydney not have more money than us? Are these two things not linked?

To be honest Otto I missed the game because we had a burst water pipe and I only watched the highlights on youTube.
Yes they do have more money and yes they do have better players and there is a correlation.

But if Strain's shot had gone in who knows what could have happened and Elsey's miss ...
Maybe we'll get them next time.

We are lacking a real creative mid and we come up against Perth this week who even have ikonomidis
on the bench at this stage who I believe is a good player.

As always I hope we win but I think we will lose 3-1 Glory has to much attacking options and I love the way Kilkenny plays in mid and he will show up young D'arrigo

This is one of those weeks where Lia needs to play.

Not the right thread for it, but Bruce said in the last 24 hours a former player wants to return to us..... wonder who ??

Vidosic i'm guessing is one.
Adlung as the 2nd?

Neither serve any real purpose. Vidosic provides nothing we don't have and he's very lazy. Adlung wasn't all that good and we don't have a Visa spot anyway.

You'd think Isa would be top of the list.

I'd guess the players wantimg to return are more like Kamau, Malik, O'Doherty but jeeze I'd love it to be Mauk....

On the "No money" comments. That's a real strike against Verbeek. What a kick in the teeth to the squad we have and also culturally we've never had money and never will. I thought he was hired to bring through SA youth (which he is doing) and we're fine with losing as long as that youth is being promoted. "No money" is very Kurz like and he was shown the door.

Basically I'm happy with 3rd, 4th as long as we promote local youth, i thought that was the owners and coaches philosophy also.
