Major Sponsor

I am puzzled and disappointed that United has not been able to secure a major sponsor for the A-League season. I would have thought that the connections Piet (And his investors!) has in the business world, that we would have secured a new front of shirt sponsor by now. With the A-League now on free to air on the ABC and the exposure the club has been getting with yet another FFA Cup run, I would have thought that it would be an attractive proposition for prospective sponsors. There are new supermarket chains (Kaufland, Aldi) trying to establish themselves in Adelaide. Surely sponsoring United would raise their profile. What about businesses with Chinese connections now that we have a sister club in China and an arrangement to take on some of their players? We had Datong sponsoring us previously. I hope that something is in the works and about to be announced soon.

It's definitely a concern. The whole stability of the league is a concern at the minute!
I just hope we still have a club and league to complain about going forward haha.

If we have no front of shirt sponsor i hope we use the space for a charity in the short term.

Money wise its not make or break for us like it used to be. We have signed some quality this season while even paying transfer fees without a major sponsor.

Their seems to be money behind the club out there somewhere .
I would not be surprised if we get a Chinese sponsor out of the blue.

I was disappointed to see that BHP is sponsoring Perth Glory and not Adelaide United. I have always privately thought that "The Big Australian" should sponsor United as they have a major commitment to Olympic Dam in South Australia. I realise Western Australia has extensive mining interests, but Olympic Dam is a major copper, silver, gold and uranium mine (One of the biggest in the world).

how much is the front of shirt sponsor worth a season?
The BHP deal id rumoured to be $750k
Obviously the big clubs demand more but surely a cheaper sponsor deal is better than no deal.

Revenue from BHP iron ore operations in WA for FY 2018 was 14.6b USD, vs Olympic Dam revenue of 1.3b USD over the same period. Understandable why they choose the Glory based on this.

Olympic Dam is BHP's fourth largest copper mine, with Escondida in Chile having revenue of 8.8b USD.
