19/20 Fixtures
A couple of tough matches first up but three very winnable games after that.

Re: 19/20 Fixtures
Seems I've been living under a rock, wtf is with us playing some teams twice and some three times?
We play Wellington, Wanderers, Perth, Western Melbourne only twice ... and there are 3 bye rounds. Why could they not just add another week and have a full 30-round fixture list? What am I missing here (other than that the A-League is a hopelessly flawed system)?

All I need is some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.

Oh, pure f**king genius. Big bang for the first home game then........a whole bloody month before we can watch our team again. Way to build the fan base!!! How can football in this country be so badly run?

MV at Coopers twice is good though.
The new Sydney team should have come straight in with WU instead of having bye rounds.

I was really looking forward to this season, new Aleague club, independent league, AUFC seemingly progressing...Seems I've been living under a rock, wtf is with us playing some teams twice and some three times?

Im not sure i can take any football league seriously that does not play clubs an equal amount of time, imagine if the premiership comes down the the last weekend ( as it did for our last premiership )
Also having extra clubs was supposed to mean MORE GAMES for australian players and more content for the media.
Hopefully this is a one off thing, next season there is another club entering right? then we can have a 33 game season with no bye round. If not Ill be officially done with australian football tbh.

Re: 19/20 Fixtures
The quicker we get to a 14 team league minimum the better.
I can handle a minimum 26 round A-league that recognizes international breaks and each team plays each other twice, 1 home and 1 away. With playoffs and the cup it makes it not too short.
Then it's just a matter of adding 2 more rounds per new team after that.
The league is trapped at the moment, being unable to grow faster because of the current broadcaster (with their own ideas about scheduling and where new teams should come from) but not growing fast and exciting enough to appeal to a bigger market and leverage a better broadcast deal, whether that is FTA, paid subscription or just fox sports with less power over how the league is ran. Will that change with independence?

Re: 19/20 Fixtures
The whole reason for the new Sydney team not joining this year is because WSW complained it would cannibalise their supporter base. They wanted to be in their new stadium before they joined...
Why on earth would they listen to one club at the detriment of the entire league?
Fixture is a joke - it needs to be home, away, home, away etc.
Only good thing is Victory and Sydney FC twice at home.

This year's fixture is as big a joke as an AFL fixture.
If we get a 33 game season next year that'll be great but I wouldn't hold your breath.

Re: 19/20 Fixtures
original fixtures released 3 weeks ago had us playing at home more to start but mvfc complained and what mvfc want, they get. And it comes at our expense.

This is the next thing the new trainer has to get his head around.
It does my head in every year.

Wait till he has to experience the refereeing in this country. Kurt Ams may receive the Verbeek death stare a few times this season. This is the next thing the new trainer has to get his head around.

We can all thank wsw for this years debacle of a fixture. They kicked and screamed at another team in Sydney joining the same year they start at their new stadium.
