Yeah he was, I'd be embarrassed if my coach got himself carded numerous times for abusive language towards referees......

He had to be grabbed by a player during the semi final.

If that's the sort of behaviour you want from your coach then that tells me all I need to know.

I’m with sevengoals, it’s football not croquet. I am happy to see some animation from the coach during the game. It shows he cares as passionately as the fans, and I have no doubt that transferred to the players and urged them on to show the same passion and that in turn contributed to the superb fighting spirit the team exhibited towards the end of the season.

I have no proof to back it up of course, but imho I believe the majority of AU fans would feel the same way.

That's fine, you're entitled to your opinions, I don't share it but that's cool.

I just don't find abusing referees "passionate", but then this is a game where players regularly crowd the officials.

I’ll agree with Reds4Life a bit here. Plenty of times on the broadcast you could see and hear Kurz getting right up into the fourth official and spraying him with “who do you think you are” or “you can’t talk to me”. That kind of stuff to me is pretty cringeworthy. I’m all for passion but that kind of belittling abuse of the officials is pretty rubbish imo.

On the earlier topic too, I’d be shocked if Victory went for him. His style seems like an awkward fit at best for a team with an expectation of being on the front foot and dictating the play all the time.

Bruce officially back as Director of Football.

I like that we've got him back in some capacity but isn't this a big leap ??

Wow I was expecting he’d come back with something like a token position on the advisory board. Had always imagined he’d end up more on the business side of things rather than the football department. In any case, delighted to see him back, he’s always seemed like a really switched on and smart operator.

Side note...does anyone know what the hell ante kovacevic does at the club these days, or if he’s still even around?

And if nothing else might come in handy to have someone inside the club with a good relationship with the state govt for perhaps the first time ever

Bruce and Hugene!!! Really good moves by the club. Makes me feel far more positive about the new season.

I'd have thought the business side too, but he's been on the PFA advisory board in the time he played for us the 2nd time round.

As for Ante, not much.

Very positive acquisitions, dare I say we are feeling less like a franchise more like a club with its own unique history and culture. Hopefully Bruce sticks around for the long term , although he is an ambitious guy he will receive bigger offers sooner or later.

Its also worth considering the new potential fault lines and factions at the club.

Traditionally the club was divided between admin/ ownership and the playing group. It appears different now.

- The manager is probably categorised with the ownership now rather than the playing group
-we have an increasing group of ex players behind the scenes.
-obviously theres the playing group.

Its probably not a big deal it just means the club dynamic is different but as with any organisation there is potential for these “tektonic plates” to collide now and then when opinions differ

I think it's really good in the transition period between coaches and owners.

Get people in who know and love the club to right the ship

I think the new owners really have to make this coaching change pay off, especially now that our rivals have snapped up Kurz. Every single thing about AUFC on social media is being met with negativity.

We need to finish ahead of MV and beat them 2 out of 3 times for the owners to save face.
