Almost sounds like we've signed the Dutch Marco.

The coach for me is important but the real test for me will be to see what budget and signings are made. That will be the only indicator of whether nothing has changed or has.

Yep agreed!

My feeling is a manager of his standing would not come here to manage a team battling to make the finals, I think its likely the club have given an indication of financial support.

Verbeek is probably also aware success here is a foot in the door in china kore and japan where management jobs are highly lucrative.

I'm excited by the new coach and he's saying all the right things. I hope he can bring us some exciting football and the owners are willing to throw some money behind him, which I assume they are. They were talking about spending big on fornaroli or Keogh in the Jan window so it's time to put your money where your mouth is.

Tony Vidmar has left Melbourne city, so he may end up here as assistant coach to Verbeek as suggested by a few people.

He can bring schenkeveld and his quads with him if he wants.

Kurz spotted in Melbourne over the weekend, I would hate to see him go to either City or Victory.

He could well go to either, though he's probably a better fit for Victory than City. I think he'd suit the 'Nix, though they've gone with Ufuk Talay which will be interesting.

I am keen to see what Verbeek does with our youth. Watching some of the kids named on the pine only to see Vinnie Lia go onto the pitch when the game was already decided must have been demoralising (though to Lia's credit he usually did a good job).

That was the most annoying part of his coaching IMO. No problems with Vinnie, but we need to see what some of these kids have at senior level.

Sydney and Victory managed to do it without harming their seasons.

Wouldn't begrudge Kurz going to Victory - he clearly and publically stated he wanted to extend his stay with us and the owners told him no. If he wants to go to our biggest rivals then he goes with my blessing. Might sound odd but all bets were off soon as the owner's punted him.

Different scenario altogether if he rejected us to sign with them.

I hope to see him in the A-League next season. The league needs characters like him for the good of the game.
