Re: Marco Kurz
Is it possible that maybe our current crop of kids just are not good enough OR not quite ready? I mean AUFC has produced some quality products but that does not mean these kids are automatically as good.
I wouldnt know i dont see these players every day, marco kurz does however and had dedicated his whole life to professional football.
The only kids that has really stepped up is ryan strain and stama, they are streets ahead of the other kids.
In the long run i side with piet though. IMO the average AUFC fan ( myself included ) expects to have a club with predominantly south aussies and have the priveledge to wave our kids off to europe.

Re: Marco Kurz
what is this direction Piet has outlined for the club? I can't remember reading it anywear? It's really interesting how divided opinions are on Marco. I would have been fine with Marco being renewed but the direction Piet has outlined for the club has my support. They have to show they're making progress towards delivering it though...

He mentions it in a pay-walled advertiser article but I've heard him say this in interviews toowhat is this direction Piet has outlined for the club? Some snippets though
“We want to use the fact that Adelaide is a football city with football development.
“We want to extend that football development beyond two teams of youth.
“We want to fill a whole academy from the youngest age until the second team.
“This will help develop the quality of Australian football, which is badly needed because we’re getting two extra (A-League) teams in the next (two) years.
“Quality players in the A-League are difficult to find and there’s going to be more teams, so there’s going to be less suitable players.
“We need to improve Australian football from the basis.
“I’ve always said I want a club to structurally be a top-three team in Australia. There can be no misunderstanding about that.
Well worth reading the full thing as there are lots of insights in it.RG: Why has this ownership consortium bought the club? What is their overall vision or long-term target for Adelaide United?
PvdP: “Because Adelaide is a football city and Adelaide has a football culture and Adelaide has a lot of talent.
“The second thing is we already had a club in China in Qingdao (Red Lions) which is a sister city of Adelaide and Shandong is the sister province of South Australia.
“It makes more sense than going to Gosford or Newcastle or Brisbane or Wellington or any other city.
“The connection there is already existing because the club, and don’t forget this, is about more than football.
“The club is a part of the community and especially of the football community.
“The club is also a part of the business community.

Val says we are close to announcing Gertjan Verbeek as Kurz's replacement.

Re: Marco Kurz
Val article in the paper today suggesting MV are chasing Kurz to replace Muskat.
A Kurz led Victory sweeping all before them while AU take a step back under Verbeek.... it's the stuff of nightmares really.

Not saying that we "would", but definitely wouldn't rule out that we "could".

Re: Marco Kurz
Have any non Australian coaches in the A-league moved to another team apart from Gombau?
Obviously it can happen, but it's rare.

Re: Marco Kurz
I think Kurz said he was returning to Germany.
I'm not so certain his persona and style would work at MV but the road is long to the next season and anything can happen till then.

Re: Marco Kurz
I actually think kurz would be a good fit at victory and it would be interesting to see what he can do with 2 solid marquees
That being said i hope he finds work in europe and not our biggest rivals

Miron Bleiberg is the only one that comes to mind, but he's Australian now and has lived here since the mid-1980s.Have any non Australian coaches in the A-league moved to another team apart from Gombau?

There's a rumour going around that the MV CEO took Marco on a tour of the club today in Melb.

Re: Marco Kurz
Kurz has signed a multi year deal with Melbourne Victory, announcement to come tomorrow.
Will be interesting to see if he will flourish with some cash to work with or will play a similar defensive game that struggles to create chances.
