Wrapping up the season

Melbourne City have the easiest of run-ins to the Finals with three of their games at home. Wellington have the worst with three away games. We have equal home and away games. Looking at my tea leaves I can see City getting 2 wins and 2 draws ( 8 points). Wellington to get 3 draws and a loss (3 points) and the Reds to do likewise.
So my prediction for positions 4 to 6 is as follows.
4th City 41 points
5th Phoenix 40 points
6th Reds 37 points
Please turn those draws into wins and prove me wrong.

The Nix are in super form, they'll belt us here this weekend.

What's Newcastles run like ?? They've got 8 points to make up on us but given our form it's not out of the question

Newcastle's form is similar to ours. They're not going to catch up.

So much depends on whether just one of our three fit strikers actually starts scoring goals. We'll be fifth or sixth, which is what we deserve. Sadly, unless we see a real change in form we're not going to be making any dent on the finals bar making up the numbers. This season is a good argument for a four-team finals series. If that was the case then the Nix, MC and us would have a real reason to chase results.

They're much better than us currently

The last game was hardly inspiring, in fact i dont think we've played well since the second half against Brisbane at the start of Feb and then the Victory game at the start of the year.

That's not even two good games this calendar year.

All this would be more palatable had we just produced the next McGree, Mabil, Mauk etc. but opportunities have been limited for AP, Armiento, Pacifique and Brook.
Would have rather thrown a youth CB to the wolves than juggle micky and Isiais there.

Wellington score in the 94th minute to make it 3-2.

City cannot make 4th now.
Wellington are 1 point behind us but have a much higher goal difference, they have to play Perth in Perth on Sunday 6:30.
We play Brisbane on Friday, a win is required to not have to worry about other games.

Yep, It is pretty much guaranteed to be City 6th, they can't catch us, but with their GD they need a +7 goal turnaround, so Perth have to hammer Wellington. City do play CCM though, so who knows, crazier matches have happened this year.

Well, what do I know?
I saw my first professional game in England back in 1962. I’ve been involved in the game as a supporter, player, coach and junior team manager since then. My prediction that United would finish the season in sixth place with 37 points just shows how little I know about the game. But is it the unpredictability that makes it so brilliant? Thank you Adelaide United. Onwards and upwards.

There you go. It was a 10 goal turnaround and now we play M Shitty
