Pacifique
Anyone able to shed any light in why Pacifique doesn't get a game? Anyone who's seen this guy through the juniors, Elizabeth Grove, Playford, Adelaide utd NPL etc.. knows what this guy is capable of.

No sure of the ins and outs of it. But he's still very young. Plus the massive challenge for young players is that they have to either train the house down or get a lucky break with suspensions and injuries.

Re: Pacifique
And Kurz seems very careful how and when he introduces young players.
He also made the point in the last interview that if he had a bigger bench he would be able to include a youngster and therefore be able to introduce said young player when the chance presented itself.

Yeah it's a challenge when so many games are close for AU. If they ever get to 3-0 at 70mins. It would be a wonderful chance to give a youngster 20 mins. And Kurz seems very careful how and when he introduces young players.

If he has to wait for us to get to 3-0 up by 70 mins he might as well retire now.

He isnt afraid to give the kids a run, but we are in a tricky situation to include too many at once.
I rate this kid though and hope he gets a gig

Lets hope he doesnt get signed up by another club, especially by Victory. Imagine Elvis and Pacifique together up front in the same team!

I think putting the kids in at the wrong time can be equally damaging for their confidence and moral . Its a huge step from youth league to aleague.

Agree.
A stable environment with a long term plan/vision is important and of course their parents also need to feel comfortable and confident with the direction and progress of their child at the club.

Re: Pacifique
Absolutely. Only problem is if a club sits and waits for the planets to align for a player to get game time that may never occur.I think putting the kids in at the wrong time can be equally damaging for their confidence and moral . Its a huge step from youth league to aleague.
I wonder what happened to the funding FFA were using for the Centre of Excellence at the AIS went? I imagine housing and feeding 20 odd 16 year olds wouldn't be cheap, then there is the cost of flying them around the country for games as well as overseas.
Surely HAL clubs would be the perfect entities to offer that funding to so they could establish their own Centre of Excellence without the cost of feeding or housing the entire squad. Obviously dividing that funding isn't going to fund each HAL club's entire development system but it would obviously help fund the existing structures in place.
I think this is where the questions of keeping the salary cap while supporting poorer clubs can come into it. The FFA needs to do away with helping the rich clubs sign Honda and Cahill and instead needs to be investing in youth development. HAL club should be reimbursed for supplying the youth NT sides with players and the FFA needs to stop sitting on their hands and roll out a structured system so the best talent this country has plays more than 15 games a season!
There needs to be an U23 HAL side representing every HAL club in their local NPL and once the NPL season is completed the NYL should start up and should be a reserve league for the HAL sides where they follow the HAL side's fixture list. Who knows we might actually see an Australian player play 40 games in a year. Now wouldn't that be amazing!

Halloran - injured
Mileusnic - injured
Kitto - out of form
Goodwin - excellent but out of form
Armiento - just as young and raw
Blackwood - looking better and better (esp playing 'in the hole')
Tomassen - yeah dunno, I'll say he 'needs time to gel'
Ilso - still can't tell if he is any good, and if so, what his best position is.
The team is also looking very predictable in general at the moment.
The time is now to give Pacifique a good run, I reckon
All I need is some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.

Re: Pacifique
The brother of Elvis and Pacifique, Ibrahim, has told me many times that young 'Passi' is more talented than Elvis. I played indoor with Elvis and Ibrahim many times, but not Pacifique - he was still a bit too young back then. Where he bloomed was in the local RAA African Nations Cup, playing with his brothers for Burundi (and also many other indoor teammates of mine from those two years ago ).
